Just wondering if any other Nicksters made the same mistake I did and actually thought their car was safe in the MCG carpark? It seems someone thought that all those cars was a great way to get their hands on some GPS systems and smashed their way into any car that had one in sight

It was a very well planned, executed and targeted attack as they took nothing else (left alot more valuable stuff that was just as gettable) and always went through the drivers side window

But I thought the MCG might have atleast one security member or someone outside, wont be trusting anything my car there again Rolling Eyes

Yep, disgraceful.

You pay $6 should at least get some security patrolling the area.

Not good enough, not to mention the amount of footballs that hits the cars at the front!

Ah, fair enough. The main thing with anything valuable is to keep it out of sight. The scumbags soon move on to tastier pickings.

Try leaving your car with Victorian Number Plates in any of the AAMI Stadium or Alberton car parks in Adelaide. I got back to my car a couple of years ago only to find a crowd of people around it yelling all sorts of foul things. I joined in and said some things as well. Their anger seemed to be directed at Victorians. They wanted to kill the owner of the car. It was me. But I never let on. It was something like out of Seinfeld with that drama they had when George parked his old mans car in a disabled spot.

I'm still waiting to see the South Australians attack Laughing

But maybe I am lucky, each time I go I am at the furthest ends of the carpark they dont seem to see it Very Happy

I actually half expected it in Adelaide, not beautiful Melbourne, especially as the Collingwood fans were all inside Razz

I've never left my GPS in my car, however, I used to leave the holder attached to the windscreen when I parked my car out on the street.

Not anymore.

About two months ago, my car was broken into - the window was smashed, the door skin was bent, and needed to be replaced - there was nothing valuable on display but the holder. It didn't even have the GPS in it. Being late at night, the scum probably couldn't see it properly through the tinted windows. Anyhow, once they broke in, they realised the GPS wasn't attached, as the holder was sideways, but they did manage to steal my phone charger ($5), and my GPS Charger ($?...maybe $10).

Moral of the story....don't leave anything on display, I mean anything.

That's not going to stop them breaking in and damaging the car in the first place.

It is if they know it's in there.

Cars with visible alarm mechanisms are statistically far less likely to be targetted by thieves.
