just got back from the game...1sts and 2nds got pumped

1sts it was 15 goals to 5

terrible kicking and absolutely no pressure on their defenders when bringing the ball out of our forward line

no one stood out....most got soundly beaten

the ones that went ok and could perhaps hold their head high are Cook, Holland (fairly sure he sat out the last qtr) and Cox....Billy Picken's kid goes alright

Lonie and Richards were disappointing

it was tough conditions with the centre square just a big pile of merri creek mud....Coburgs bigger bodied players really dominated

Brent Johnson is out injured for this one so the lads will really need to step up. He was sorely missed in the last half of the Casey game. He is a great leader.

Brett Johnson also missed with a cheekbone injury.

Terrible loss.

Indirect, indecisive and inaccurate.

Thats the INS for this week, now for the OUTS

Outplayed, Outrun and Outscored.

Best we just put this behind us because we know the boys are better than that.

Scotty Meyer and Liam Picken worked damn hard all day and did not deserve to get a whipping like that.

Went to game today - bloody awful. Smashed in the clearances, turnovers thru the middle and no run. Few observations;

Holland - not fit, limped the whole game. Turned over the footy numerous times and decision making awful.

Reid - tough day for him - ball came down terribly. Should be in the seniors instead of Bryan.

Cox - looks like needs a better standard but worry about his hardness.

Cook - Very good. Ran hard and created. Should get a senior game soon.

Stanley - started well then faded.

Wellingham - thought he was ok. Creative with hands and took a good grab.

Richards - shocking. Tried to palm all day when he should have thumped.

Nicholls / Davies - should have had good days but were ineffective.

MacAffer - Not a heap of game time.

Toovey - Not sure with this guy. Not sure if he is up to standard.

Brown - Two kicked on him early but then tightened up and was ok. Ball was continually down there. Big boy. Hard in contest and kicks nicely.

Lonie - one of the better ones. Probably could go up.

Thanks for the report, how about Dick?

Interesting that Lonie was named the VC for the game, but 14 Collingwood players and they get thumped, not a good sign, but it seems to happen often, the more pies players the bigger the loss

Ordinary - but the ball came in really badly. Did a couple of nice things and took a v good mark under pressure. took the hit which was good.

Lonie should play for Collingwood next week. Actually, he should have played for us yesterday. Oh well.

Cox was good should be in the senior team, Nichols was outstanding, Lonie a chance for senior selection, Wellingham getting back to best.

We're in a slump im tipping a win next week against Sandringham at Burbank against all the odds to signal the Towners back in the race for the premiership!!

Honestly, if Ryan (puffinfresh marshmellow man) gets back into the ones we are taking a giant step backwards.

Lonie would be a bloody good addition.

So many times we need that run through from the wing into the half forward.

We get absolutely no penetration with Heath Shaw and R.Shaw not running through there.

That, and we need Rocca out at the 50m more often, it happened against Hawthorn and Geelong, the forward 50 was bottled up and as soon as the pill hit the floor it was out of the 50 and into theirs.

Lonie bashers need to give him a chance...

Yeah that's fine Panga as long as he is doing that because his weak attack on the ball over recent years has been atrocious. He takes backwards steps and skips in instead of going full tilt like a Goldsack or an O'Brien. Watch closely, he will come into the contest just when he knows he wont win it, just in time for a bit of body contact.

If he comes in to the side and shirks 1 issue then that will be it. We have a side who is ferocious at the ball at the moment (maybe not as well on the w/e) therefore he would really have had to have changed his game and his mindset. I will be watching him intently.

Why on earth would we want to take a soft backward step and bring in the likes of Lonie? We should be looking forward not back. How do you think he is going to win us games of football when our whole ethic is based on hardness.

No-one is denying Lonie has some wonderful skills but he will not ever win you the footy and how long has it been since his so called hard running line breaking style has even been witnessed.

We have taken so many steps forward I believe Lonie and Holland as regulars in the ones would be a step back.
