A new report has shown up to 3,000 young Muslims in Sydney alone could be susceptible to radicalisation by fundamentalist Islam.

Scary.

I wonder if they could do a similar report to identify the next Julian Knight or Martin Bryant.

I find it scary that we are so scared of islamic terrorism in a nation that has never had any reason to suspect anything.

Donīt live in fear, it just allows you to be manipulated. For eg., here in spain, on the front page alongside all the shit happening in the UK, they put a small article about ETA being back in action... Pure opportunism by the Spanish government trying to subconsciously connect these two very different issues.

Donīt accept their spin. We are culpable for our actions around the world, and until we stop being imperial powers, we will continue to be attacked.

Exactly and what did we have our Government sit down and do straight after the airport attack. Blitz the media with more fear as it could be a vote grabber. We cannot continue to piss people off and occupy their countries and not expect them to retaliate with any means at their disposal.

But... guys... you seem to be assuming that such people are merely pissed off at their unfair treatment, and do not have unfair objectives themselves.

Should America, for example, abandon Israel to be nuked just so that Islamic extremists don't get upset? That probably would have prevented the September 11 attacks, by the way.

I hope that our foreign policy isn't dictated by fear of retribution. Of course, it could be a good thing if it stops us behaving in an 'imperialist' manner, but I think radical Islam has more objectives than just making us mind our own business.

It wasn't in Australia, but quite a few Australians died in a terrorist attack in Bali a few years ago, I seem to recall.

True, we shouldn't let fear take over our lives, and we certainly shouldn't allow it to be used as a manipulating tool by governments, but the fear is kind of valid, to an extent. The fact is, Islamic terrorism and terrorist groups do exist. It's just a question of how much of a problem it is.

What a horrible, cynical joke... Glasgow, London, and... Brisbane.

Pffft.
