Crane dangles from Hobart bridge
Wednesday Jun 20 13:37 AEST

A crane is dangling precariously from the side of the massive Tasman Bridge in Hobart after it toppled over during maintenance work.

The crane's fully extended boom, which is hooked on to a metal cage, was completely over the edge, more than 30 metres above the water, at almost the highest level of the massive concrete structure.

The pedestrian guard rail was the only thing stopping the vehicle from plunging into the River Derwent below.

Police closed the bridge as other cranes attempted to lift the fallen crane following this morning's incident

There has yet to be any official word as to why the crane fell over, pictures of the crane suggest the operator was very lucky that the crane didn't land in the Derwent River. Going to be an investigation into how the crane ended up like it did.

Let me guess, workchoices caused it.

I am thinking it could have been the wind that caused it.

Yep, and John Howard pushed it over himself.

More than likely the operator was taking shortcuts to retain his job, or contract.
Yep, Work(NO)Choices fingerprints all over this one.
Might have to start a thread.

Why not, it's as least as tight a link as some of the others you started.

Why does the word "paranoia" spring to mind?

I'm chill, life's too short to get too serious about this kind of crap. Anyway, it doesn't matter who you vote for, cutns get elected. Wink

I think we may have seen the depths of hell freeze over!
