I've driven trucks, not big trucks, but heavy bastards just the same.
Car drivers have no idea what they are doing when they constantly cut in front of fully laden trucks who are trying to leave a safe braking distance. Happened time and time again to me.
I always respect the space taken by trucks on our roads. They have an extremely hard job that I could not do. The thing to remember whenever you encounter a truck on the road is that the driver is at his/her job. They are on the road making their living. In most cases you and I are on the road for recreation.
There is a difference. |

Damn, I agree with you.
My cousin is a truckie and his main complaint is peanuts pulling in front of him then slamming on the brakes. People have no concept how long it takes to stop one of those things. _________________ Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down. |

I would love all governments to require one days training in driving trucks as a part of licensing laws.
Simple solution. why so hard to implement? |

Not feasible unless they bring it in for car license requirements as well. _________________ Whale

Did not make myself clear Dale. This would be a requirement of all licenses. Even motorbikes. |

What's your sign? Is that from it? That remark was either too complex or too simple for me. We were talking about Simple solution. That input matched my default category. How did you hear about HAL? |

Isn't that like saying that all car licence holders should do training in motor cycle riding to learn the risks that one of the most vulnerable road users are faced with? This might make a driver actually think of the consequences of not doing head checks, typing sms messages, applying make-up etc. whilst in control of a deadly weapon namely their vehicle.... _________________ How would Siri know when to answer "Hey Siri" unless it is listening in to everything you say? |

How many "truckies" do you know frogwit. Let me tell you, a larger percentage of Truck Drivers care about road rules than those of you who don't drive for a living.
Thats a stupid statement ES that only a deckhead like you would make. |
Just from many years of witnessing them running red lights, speeding no matter what the conditions, etc Its funny how when travelling on the country roads they are the only ones doing 120 in 100 zones at night in pouring rain, but hey of course the truckies are model citizens, just like all motorcyclists are careful and never to blame
Love to know what % of accidents involve trucks
As for braking distance, I saw a huge truck brake very quickly the other day when it sped up to run a red light and the truck in front didnt want to, so the 2nd truck had to slam on the brakes at about 90 and it literally jumped off the road and sent smoke into the air, was funny to watch |

As long as I can bring the traffic police with me to give them all some tests
When I head up to Sydney I think I will take note of how many trucks are breaking the law, will make the trip go quicker, I am backing 100+ |

THE truck driver who rammed the V/Line train near Kerang was trying to outrun the locomotive, police will allege.
It will be among a series of allegations to be made against driver Christiaan Scholl, 48, of Wangaratta, in a brief being compiled by investigators to prove his culpability.
The safety of the truck and his decision making as he approached the level crossing are key points to the investigation.
A source has told The Advertiser that Mr Scholl saw the train and believed he would beat it to the level crossing and braked hard when he realised he would not make it. His desperate attempt to stop left skid marks more than 30m long.
Toxicology reports have cleared the driver of any illegal levels of substances in his system.

Rules are there to protect everyone. Whether it is trying to beat a train at a crossing or running a red light, some one is going to get hurt eventually. _________________ Kaylene.
