Post subject: Rudd V Howard which will win the next election? | |
|
Deadset these guys are very similar in their views. Forget the *ullshit left and right wing rhetoric. They could both be in the same party. Rudd comes out and lets us all know he is not a socialist by stating he has shares in the Macquarie bank. If Howard gets ousted he will be on the board of the same said Bank.
People will vote at the next election with their hip pockets. If they are comfortable they will return Howard. If they are not they will vote him out. History shows us you don't win elections you lose them.
Key factors in the next election.
Interest Rates is the #1, they go up again Howard is gone.
Iraq or the Stan? Most people don't give a toss but a few of our boys turn up in body bags it will become an issue.
IR? Those hurting or have a relative that has been hurt will vote Labour, but they already vote that way in most cases.
Race Card? Worked well before and will be up there again don't you worry about that.
Unemployment? Who knows the true figure? Don't think it will be an issue as it’s not as in your face as the others.
Personalities? We have shown we don't like that crap.
All Labour states? Always a problem as many vote opposite to their state.
Unions? Irrelevant these days many say. They will have a big say this time around purely because of the dollars they have. Won't mean *hit as Rudd isn’t a union man and the work choice legislation is here to say. Maybe a few changes under Rudd, but basically it will stay.
I am a good reader of elections and despite Labour's lead in the polls I expect it to go down to the wire and I still say the interest rates will be the one that drives the votes. They stay the same or go down Howard will win with a less of a majority. They go up it will be a landslide win to Labour.
This is not about bashing either person, this is about why you think one will win over the other. |

Have to say I don't really care.
The single most important issue for me is global warming which neither party seem to have a serious interest in.

Rudd will win pretty easily. Many will feel a need for change, now that Howard has been in power for over 10 years, and Rudd is the most convincing Labor leader since Keating. I would be very, very surprised if Howard won. _________________ All watched over by machines of loving grace |

Considering when it all boiled down to 2 party preffered vote after the last election, and Howard won 49% to 51%, any result is possible.
It's not the percentage of votes you get, it's where in this country you get them. The marginals will bear close analysis leading up to this election. If you live in one expect to see a huge amount of material promising you the world. |

Good points and yes the best place to live is a marginal seat. |

The Howard government is completely on the nose, unfit to govern, and has absolutely no hope of winning the next election unless they can arrange a terrorist attack on home soil a couple of weeks beforehand. And even then the voters might still decide to blame them.
I'm looking forward to dancing in the streets on election night.
Not that I really think Kevin Rudd will make any great difference. I'm just going to get tremendous pleasure from seeing John Howard go out of politics as a loser. _________________ Line and Length ... Line and Length ... Line and Length |

Howard is gone, and gone in a major way. This is shaping up to be a beautiful big landslide ala 1996. Rudd will pick up seats in QLD in particular which is where tha ALP need to improve most, while Labor will be helped by the fact that the Libs are in complete dissarray in NSW. With unemployment so low Howard won't be able to buy his way out with baby bonuses or tax cuts either because of their likely impact on inflation and interest rates and the hammering he will cop from economists, the media and the opposition for vandalising the economy for political purposes.
No doubt he'll try and ramp up the race issue and national security, but the electorate is finally starting to get sick of his cynical use of these ploys and Rudd is giving him no room on these issues either as evidenced by his comments about several delegates to the recent conference on Muslims in Australia at Melbourne Uni.
Times up dickhead. You've had ten years to bring out the absolute worst in this country and have done a great job at it. Now piss off! |

How much pleasure can you take from that, though? Howard said a while ago that he would not step down from his position until he was voted out, so essentially he has already committed to going out a 'loser'. Whatever your views on Howard, you've got to respect that. _________________ All watched over by machines of loving grace |
