Burbank Oval Sunday 1/04/07 Williamstown V Nth Ballarat.

Nothing is better than a sunny Burbank Oval on a nice relaxed Sunday Afternoon added with the excitement of Collingwood's future on display made for a good arvo with the friendly folk from the bayside suberb of Williamstown who are happy to talk Williamstown at every oppertunity from Club president Trevor Monty, Brad Gotch coach, property stewards and the hard working friendly ladies serving in the canteen.

Williamstown at Burbank Oval is a friendly experience and is worth a visit from anyone who hasn't yet attended a seagulls home match.

Today my first official Williamstown weekly report for the Collingwood cheersquad newsletter and exclusive reports for Nicks Bulletin Board was greeted with exciting prospects and of course a very impressive Williamstown only six days away from its 2007 season launch which at this stage looks highly promising.

First Quarter

Goals
Sam Isles 1
Martin Clarke 1
Dean Limbach 1
Brad Dick 1
Andrew Williams 1

Chris Bryan opened the game in centre ruck and impressed with strong body work, Martin Clarke's goal was a beauty Clarke can play football and one can see why the Magpies have huge wraps on him.
Sharrod Wellingham started off the bench and was quick into action this kid has a fantatstic future.
Shannon Cox is a delight to watch only too happy to back up team mates is a very strong player can mark strongly yelling words of encouragement to team mates can play forward and down back Coxy has a certain Darren Millane flair about him.
Cox's running running and backing up team mates resulted in a goal slotted through by Sam Isles.
Willimastowns Dean Limbach shows football nouse and can get amongst the goals very quickly.

Scores Williamstown 5.4.34 Nth Ballarat 5.1.31

Second Quarter

Goals
Liam Picken 2
Ben Reid 1
Bret Johnson 1
Steven Greene 1

Ben Reid's goal came from fantastic goal square work he simply man on man out manouvered his Nth Ballarat oponent for his age and thin frame the kid can play football very pleasing to watch.
Williamstowns Conor Dullard is a big boy and had a reasonable quarter he presents him self very well.
Sharrod Wellingham is a class footballer and finds space easily this kid has a bright future im very excited about Sharrod.
Again Martin Clarke showed why he comes with big wraps a fine second quarter is able to read the play rarely makes a mistake has the vision to know what to do with football before he gets it.
Liam Picken son of former great champion Billy Picken is a serviceable player and as shown in this quarter can get amongst the goals likes the hard ball and runs all day.

Scores Williamstown 11.7.73 Nth Ballarat 8.1.49

Third Quarter

Brad Gotches 3rd quarter speech...pleads to all players to fine tune there game in preparation for next week, finish game off and work hard.

Goals
Dean Limbach 2
Andrew Williams 1
Brad Dick 1
Unknown 1...sorry.

The 3rd quarter again showed the quality of Shannon Cox and his ability to read the play...in one play he handpassed to the fast running Sharrod Wellingham how many times could we see this in a few years time the mouth waters with excitement.
Brad Dick kicks a pearler goal interesting to note Brad would of played senior football against the Kangaroos the previous day if it hadn't of been for a severe case of tonsilitis, Brad lookd to have shown the after effects of the illness he at times just couldnt get into the play the goal he kicked showed his class and speed when he has the ball.

Scores Williamstown 16.11.107 Nth Ballarat 9.5.59

Final Quarter
Goals
Dean Limbach 2
David Stretton 1
Ben Reid 1

Willimastown players David Stretton and Dean limbach have big futures with the seagulls, David Stretton is last years best and fairest VFL reserves player please correct me if im wrong he shows uncanny ability at goal and general on ball work, Dean Limbach has class and looks presents himself well up forward will be amongst the goals this season.

All in all i was impressed with Williamstowns endeavour they seem to enjoy playing together you can feel a good bond between all players Collingwood and Williamstown.
They teamed well backed each other up one can sense these boys are on a mission for success on 07.

Brad Gotch's Summary....thanks Brad for your time after the game much appreciated.

Good hitout and we must remember in the last three weeks the boys have kicked over twenty goals in two games, it was a good game for the boys who showed spirit and team unity was pleased with the way the forward line functioned today was happy with Martin Clarke , Sharrod Wellingham and Alan Toovey and very impressed with Shannon Cox
Brad Gotch.

Final Scores
Williamstown 20.16.136
Nth Ballarat 13.8.86.

cheers everyone now lets beat the arch enemy Werribee next saturday at Burbank Oval and keep in mind it will be the return game of Collingwood champion Alan Didak.

Hoped you liked the report which will now be a regular exclusive to Nicks Bulletin Board.

Thx Joffa, excellent report.

Glad to know I've been replaced by someone of your stature.

Great report Joffa. I'm just trying to work out who Collingwood should drop to slot Cox into the side?

yep excellent report Joffa, much appreciated from those who struggle to get to the games as they feature all across Melbourne.

Good to hear the rookies are pushing for promotion and puttin pressure on the senior blokes.

Pleasing to hear that the Williamstown boys get amongst it. Dean Limbach sounds alrite, and certainly gets his hands on the footy.

A couple of great comments on the official Williamstown site.

http://williamstown.footballvictoria.com.au/default.aspx?s=newsdisplay&aid=116617

From the Senior's match report:
Quote:
Shannon Cox, Sam Iles and Martin Clarke provided great drive and rebound off the half back flank

From the Reserves match report:
Quote:
Tyson Goldsack was a standout picking up plenty of touches and showing plenty of dash and run for a man of his size.

Also shows Goldy as BOG.

Greatly appreciate the Willy stuff!

With Cox, Dick & Goldsack all donning Willy jumpers last week expect some marketing guru and Ansell to quickly bid for naming rights!

it would be good if someone could do a report on the team they are playing each week its so hard to find out the real story in the VFL.
