I won't speek too soon about the umpiring so far in this season because we haven't played yet and umpires tend to hate us.
But so far so good I think.
As for the TV coverage, Channel 9 having a little trouble with cameras but are learning. Channel 10 looks fine. And foxtel to. But one thing with foxtel is you can't recored the Footy channel. It flickers and goes in and out of black and white.
Although I've not tryed it with may fox footy channel that i've already paid for. Did it at a friends house. Other foxtel channels don't do this. What's the deal? Don't want us lending tapes to friends hey?

Channel 9's graphics need some tweaking. It is a bit hard to read as they are pretty small and the colour selection for the background doesn't help either... and as you said, the camera work isn't as good as Channel 7 used to do it. Channel 10 looks pretty good though, can't comment on Fox, but I think they were supposed to use the same format as 10.

We arent getting Ch9 as yet here in Sydney, but Ch 10/Fox are fair, but have along way to go.
No timing on the score board is a start,a couple of the commentators need a bit of teaching about the rules, but given this is the start of the season,I recon we should give it a bit of leway and try them around the middle of the season
Catch you all later

Speaking from experience it will take the guys at nine and ten a couple of weeks to get everything right, don't forget they haven't had to telecast the footy for 45 years!!!

Be grateful that you can watch the game at all!, spare a thought for us Collingwood members in SA country, No channel 9 no channel 10 no foxtel, no regional coverage, no radio coverage, barely functioning AFL website, lots of frustration.

About the time on the scoreboard during the game - I vaguely remember reading when the deal first went through that the time would not be shown. I could be thinking about something else I had heard but when I read it here it just jogged that memory!

Last nights Crows - Lions match had a countdown clock. Much to my dissapointment. We don't want it, we don't need it.

I am glad that here in Tassie we get channel 9(yippeee Eddie's commentating, finally someone who loves the pies!!!!!!!). Can't wait to hear Eddie calling a collingwood game, who cares what all those LOSERS who are complaing think,Eddie will do a great job.
No one complains when someone like Gary Lyon comments on a demons game or whatever but if eddie dares to comment on a pie game it's supposed to be a conflict of interest.

We also get channel 10(via a regional station) where we get channel 10 and 7, the only thing I am not sure of is if down here we get Foxtel Football channel(as I have pay-tv) hmmm might have to investigate that.

I will be glad not to have to listen to Bruce McCavaney waffle on about how great certain teams are.

GO THE PIES!!!!!!!!

Jarrod Molloy RULES!!!!

Tonights game (Lions v dees) was a shocker!
The ch 9 camera work needs a lot of improvement to properly convey the game to us. Wiring the umps is very worthwhile, but allowing Martin Pike to say the "F" word several times may hamper it's continued use.
As for the umps...the report of Uze ia a joke. Little hits like that to the guts happen 20 - 30 times a match. Still his name is Uze not Lockett, so he'll be out for 2 - 3 weeks.

I think the coverage has been excellent considering neither of the Channels have broadcasted football before (give them a break).

Secondly, Channel 10 chose to not show the clock while Ch9 chose to use the countdown clock.
