Probably one of the most emotional issues of our time, the right to an Abortion or societys right to condemn and ban Abortions.
It stirs up people like no other topic it has lead to violent demonstrations and believe it or not the very mention of it has even led to murder.
Would be great to chair such a discussion..lets not get personal but rather lets discuss this topic open mindedly.
Your thoughts ?

I will risk ridicule and speak up. I personally would ban all types of non-therapeutic abortion and provide assistance to those who don't want the child to help them adopt out to wanting parents.

It should only be allowed in extreme circumstances like for victims of rape/incest or where the mother's life would be jeopardised if she carried to full term etc.

Definately should not be used as a method of birth control.

when a man can carry a child through 9 months of pregnancy, then and only then can they determine what's best for their own bodies, mind and soul.

Other than that, it's up to each and every woman to make that decision.

So where do the childs and the fathers rights come into it. Just because you havent got a vagina doesnt make you irrelevant.

My opinion on this has changed over the years. Once I would have said it shouldn't be allowed(probably coming up in a Catholic education).
But now as I've got older I believe it should be personal choice as there are many varied situations that require different outcomes.

In pre-Islamic Arabia, there was a time when female babies were considered as bringing shame to the family or tribe. In order to cover their shame, the pagan Quraishi Arabs would literally bury these female babies alive. Abortion is not much different from this barbaric practice, except abortion does not gender discriminate.

I am opposed to abortion. But at the same time I understand that there may be valid reasons, financial or otherwise, for the mother not wanting to have the baby. There needs to be effective procedures in place where unwanted babies can be allocated to those who want them.

i'm sorry, but it's my body, my choice.

just as all other health related issues are my body, my choice.

In the case of some people, it should be restrospective.

it's also not a decision that is usually taken lightly.

Generally the person goes through a lot of soul searching before they actually make the final decision.

If my daughter came to me and told me she was pregnant and didn't know what to do. I would let her know all the options available to her and support her no matter what decision she came too.

So you should be allowed to have the power of life and death over another human being. If it is just your body fine but in the case of abortion it isnt just your body.
