Post subject: Book Title - Help Please! | |
|
Hi All,
Just after a book title on Collingwood. It was written by Gordon Carlisle (I think thats his name) and it is all the history on the footy club.
If you know this and where I can purchase a copy, that would be a huge help as it is for a present.
Thanks Guys

I recon that if you try the main office,or get hold of Joffa either one should be able to assist.
I have the publication of the VFL/AFL which came out 3 years ago and it was printed by Penguin books.
Good luck with the search

I recommend getting in touch with Melbourne Sports Books. If theres a certain Collingwood Book you want and if it exists they're bound to have heard about it and probably stock it. They have a huge selection of AFL books including several different Collingwood titles. Their address and phone number is:
Melbourne Sports Books
80 Flinders Street, Melb,
Vic. 3000 Australia.
Phone (03) 9662 1085 or (03) 9662 1086
Ask for Santo
Hope that helps.

Some Collingwood Books:
"The other side of the medal : memoirs of life and football."
- Len Thompson.
"Collingwood at Victoria Park."
- Glenn McFarlane.
"Collingwood Forever."
- Gavin Brown.
"Ten years in black and white."
- Peter Keenan.
"Big Al : Collingwood - the untold story."
- Alan McAlistair & Jim Main..
"A Century of the best : the stories of Collingwood's favourite sons."
- Michael Roberts.
"Kill for Collingwood."
- Richard Stremski.
I've read some of these. The Crackers Keenan book's actually a pretty good one, getting a bit in and under in the occurrences at Collingwood.
The Big Al one's fluff - not at all the inside-scoop you'd expect, while the Gavin Brown autobiography is good, but as fluffy as any footballer's biography.
Len Thompson's book isn't a bad one either, if you can get past his "I was the greatest" tone and the fact that he mentions he won the Copeland 5 times every second paragraph.
There's also a book called, "The Corruption of Power." It's not actually about Collingwood, but former and disgraced American President Richard Nixon. However, if you substitute "Nixon" with "McAlister", I imagine it's pretty close to his tenure at Collingwood.
