Very sad day indeed.
I remember seeing him playing in the mid - late 90's and he hadn't lost any of that magic.

Billy performed at the Doncaster Westfield Shopping Centre Friday night, this looks like being his last gig.
12 Bar will never be the same again without Billy. |

Quote: | THE venues where Billy Thorpe played his last two gigs resounded with shock today as news broke of the rock legend's death.
Just three days ago Thorpe, 60, enraptured 150 fans at San Remo's Westernport Hotel, 122km south-east of Melbourne.
Today his mark on the Australian music scene has been relegated to the history books.

R.I.P. Rock in Peace, Billy.
Early Days.
With Richard Clapton.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Billy Thorpe, lead singer of The Aztecs best known for hit Most People I Know, has been called a true child of rock and roll.
During the 60s and 70s, Billy Thorpe and The Aztecs sold out concert venues and produced chart-topping songs such as Poison Ivy, Mashed Potato and Sick and Tired.
Little River Band lead singer Glenn Shorrock said he shared a great fellowship and rivalry with the icon and said he was constantly upstaging his peers.
'He was uncompromising in his approach to his music and his life, sartorially elegant, he always presented himself immaculately everywhere, and had a wonderful sense of humour.'
Former Midnight Oil frontman Peter Garrett says the legend was a great contributor to the music industry and provided inspiration to many bands.
'He cared passionately about music. He retained a real vibrancy and creativity and fertility in his own work.'
