eddie, let me take a stab at this:

you're 18 y.o. and you live with your parents in the outer eastern suburbs. you wear your baseball cap back-to-front. you are on p-plates and drive a purple 2001 hyundai excel with a 400 watt amplifier and two 12" subwoofers in the boot that you bought from jb hifi. you believe you have a right to drive around playing doof doof music at 150 decibels. anyone who doesn't agree with you is an old woman. one of your dad's mates is a copper. you think that makes you cool.

how'd i go ?

damn, that actually sounds a lot like me Surprised

except for the subwoofer/amp bit Wink

The mind boggles at how moronic some people can be. The irony is, this is not going to be the last time this happens, either.

LOL, the Lancer was only bought two weeks ago.

Wonder if they'll be looking to fix it under warranty!

Reports are the Lancer was travelling at 'only' 120kph. Going by the damage, they must have been travelling a lot faster than that. Afterall, they were street racing.....

Lookin at the cab on the telly just reminded me of how my accident could of been. That cab and the other car made the two cars in our collision look almost perfect.

Terrible ending, a young 15 year old dead shocking stuff.

In all fairness, I think it should be mentioned that the driver in the news article was not said to be a p-plater, and his age (20) indicates that he probably wasn't.

In all fairness David, you need to know the Victorian Laws where this happened.

In Victoria you get your licence at 18 and currently, your on your Probationary Licence for 3 years and MUST display your plates. So, If you get your licence at 18, that's 21 when you come off them.

They are changing it that you have them for 4 years.

It was the wrecked Lancer that vision was shown where a P-plate was displayed, and the driver of that vehicle is 24.

The other car involved, the RX7, was driven by an 18 yo.

There's now a suggestion that as both drivers were p-platers, they were driving vehicles they were not permitted to drive under their licensing conditions.

Hoon offloads car to girlfriend

Quote:
A P-PLATE hoon with a string of serious driving offences sold his high-powered car to his girlfriend in an apparent bid to prevent police seizing it permanently.

But attempts by Jesse Kristopher Bennett, 18, to sidestep anti-hoon legislation may backfire.

Police applied in Bendigo Magistrates' Court yesterday to permanently impound the 1996 Ford XR6 car, regardless of who owns it.

Bennett, of Maiden Gully, racked up five hoon-related driving offences within four months of getting his licence in July last year, the court was told.

He pleaded guilty yesterday to five charges including dangerous driving, exceeding the speed limit by more than 45km/h and careless driving.

Quote:
On November 23, Bennett racked up his third hoon-related offence when he was clocked driving at 104km/h in a 50km/h zone.

Under new anti-hoon legislation, police have the power to apply for permanent seizure and impounding of vehicles if drivers are charged with three hoon offences within three years.

But police prosecutor Sen-Constable David Somerton told the court yesterday Bennett transferred ownership of the Ford XR6 to his girlfriend just days after the November 23 incident.

The anti-hoon legislation doesn't care who owns the vehicle, the driver is responsible for his/her own driving behaviour.

Hopefully, this will see a decline of hoon driving by those driving Daddy's car.
