I can't say where I heard it from as they will get in trouble. Lets say it's come from someone who was with him after the incident.

March 23, 2004

Collingwood defender James Clement, who nearly lost sight in one eye and was expected to miss up to eight weeks, made a surprise appearance at training yesterday, raising the slim possibility of playing in the season opener against Richmond on Friday night.

Clement trained at Collingwood's closed session, after a remarkable recovery from the eye injury.

Up until now, the club has ruled Clement out for round one and listed him as "indefinite" on the injury list; he had been expected to miss at least the first three games. His return to training raises the possibility of an earlier inclusion in the team.

He hurt his eye in a practice match against Melbourne 11 days ago.

At the club's recent family day, coach Mick Malthouse and president Eddie McGuire told supporters they had feared that Clement might lose sight in the eye, having suffered internal bleeding.

This is terrific news! I don't expect him to play round 1 but now round 2 looks a real possibility.

They were mentioning that on SEN last night. If not Rd 1 then could be round 2. That is fantastic news as Jimmy is a fantastic player.

So much for the rumours of him not playing again this season....lol

He ain't played yet. I am awlays glad to be proven wrong as well in cases like these too. Razz

Oh & I just TXT my source and had a dig at him and told him to go back to medical school. Razz

Reading the artilce in the age it says "Up until now, the club has ruled Clement out for round one and listed him as "indefinite" on the injury list"

Also "At the club's recent family day, coach Mick Malthouse and president Eddie McGuire told supporters they had feared that Clement might lose sight in the eye, having suffered internal bleeding".

So my source was on the money as that was the same feeling at the club.

the club would be silly to let him play round 1. its a bad injury and what whould happen if he takes a knock on it. Short term pain long term gain, leave him out for a few weeks.

droche, seriously, how would you know how serious it is? We certianty don't, and I'm sure the only people of making en informed judgement on this are at the club. It may not have been as serious as first believed.

Sorry your right Joel I don’t know how serious his eye is but, it was serious enough that they thought he might loose his eye, isn't that what Mick and Ed said? To me that sounds pretty serious, and I personally don’t think he will play, how can a player be listed to be out for 6 weeks then because he trains he is in the team? He probably just did a couple of laps. But thanks for letting me know that I am not at the club, not being at the club doesn't mean I cant have an opinion, if that was the case this site would not be around because none of us are at the club. To finish I hope he does play because that would mean he would have suffered no long term injury.

I have enough faith in the clubs medical staff to decide when JC is ready to go.

Although I'd luv to see him this week I doubt it, with some luck he will be ready for the Doggies or at least for the Lions.

Your right closed session, but after coming off a internal bleeding in the eye, I would be very surprised if he was doing full contact training in preparation for round one!! We need a doctor. But once again its only my opinion.
