Great Post I agree completely. Scott was great today I wish a few of the other player would learn from his example.

The Burns unit is a freak. Busting his gut week in-week out, while useless cowards like Leon Davis bludge around, without the slightest intention of attempting a tackle. And as soon as Burns and Thomas came off injured in the last quarter, that was it for us.

Burns must be getting on a bit, but he's still one of our best players.

Unfortunately, he may not last too long if he continues to show the raw courage that he displayed today.

Scott Burns is in much better touch this year than last, and i would suggest he has plenty more left in the legs. Hope that incident which hurt him in the last quarter is not seroius enough to slow him up for ANZAC day. I want our biggest and toughest group on the park on Wednesday to get in there, get dirty and play some really tough football. Burns, O'Bree, Licuria and Heater need to be ruthless.

With Buckley out of the side Burns has had to assume more responsibility and more game time in the middle. When Bucks and Holland come back into the side, and Burns is again used sparingly off the bench, perhaps he can go around for one more year.

I don't know what Malthouse was thinking leaving him out there for the last 3-4 minutes when the game was clearly over.

Agree Roddy, and he will be a more than worthy inductee. A great example for some of our younger mids. Burnsy does what's best for the team, not what's best for Burnsy. He will make sacrifices. Tremendous today as he has been for his entire career.

Love this guy like no other (except maybe Bucks, Rowdy and Rupe). He gives his heart, body and soul for the Collingwood Magpies, and for that I love him. The sight of the 17 charging at full pelt into grave danger is something I treasure and will sadly soon miss. Sir Scott Burns is a champion's champion, and still one of our best players, perhaps the most underestimated since 1990 (certainly from what I can recall from 1997 onwards).

Scott Burns IS Collingwood.

Scott Burns looks fit to play milestone game
Sam Edmund | May 01, 2008 12:00am

COLLINGWOOD skipper Scott Burns finally looks set to play his 250th game in Saturday's MCG blockbuster against Hawthorn. Burns, 33, has been stranded on 249 matches since suffering a calf strain in the win against Richmond four weeks ago.

But in a major boost for the Pies, the captain is expected to emerge from the cotton-wool treatment to take on the red-hot Hawks.

Collingwood football manager Geoff Walsh said Burns moved freely during yesterday's training session at Gosch's Paddock.

A week earlier Burns cut a lone figure at training, jogging just two laps before returning to the Lexus Centre.

"He trained pretty well today and did everything that was asked of him and I would think, barring any accidents, he'd be right (to play)," Walsh said last night.

"He was out there doing what the fitness and conditioning staff wanted him to do and he pulled up well, so we're pretty happy with that."

Burns also missed the opening match of the season through injury, but was brilliant in the narrow loss to the Brisbane Lions at the Gabba in Round 2.

The Magpies hope Burns' milestone will provide extra motivation against the Hawks and help sway the balance of power in the midfield in their favour.

Fellow veteran Anthony Rocca could also come back into the side.

The full-forward made a low-key appearance on the track after missing last week's Anzac Day clash against Essendon through injury.

"He didn't do a lot, but he got out there and did what we wanted him to do and we'll have a look at him again later in the week," Walsh said.

"I think he's a pretty good chance at this stage, but we'll need to see how he goes."

Walsh said defender Simon Prestigiacomo was making solid progress after a foot operation in the off-season.

The 30-year-old has not played a game this year, but is improving each week.

Walsh said the club was happy with Prestigiacomo's progress and it was anticipated he would be fit to resume playing closer to Round 12.

such a handy boost.[/quote]

I know we need Burnsy....but while the Hawks game is big...the Geelong game is more so. Burnsy better be 100% fit..or else he should be rested another week and take advantage of the extra week.

Ditto for Rocca.

Good news on Presti. We don't need him right now, the Back 6 has held up quite well so far. But later in the season when Brown, Goldy and Harry are starting to tire...you watch how imporant both Wakes and a fit Presti are.
