peter pies.... I defnitely agree with u.... Lonie's of more value on the wing.... as a defender I don't rate Lonie highly and I think it was a mistake to play him deep in defense on Embley.

I hope we see Burns return to the backline.... it needs stability ATM!

His form still isn't as good as it was during the finals last year...but Ryan looks like he could be lifting.
I think that Lonie does well playing on the half-back flank. Smile

He's not just small in size, but body size aswell, most of the 'great' backmen have a little beef on them, and are something like 6'2-6'3 around that area. With his kicking, I find he would be best suited running the ball into the forward line off the wing. And make Woewodin and Buckley run freely zround the ground. Then Buckley or Woewodin can get it to Lonie, where he can run the ball into Tarrant, Mollor, or Rocca.

James Clement: 190cm, 92kg

Ryan Lonie: 190cm, 91kg.

Some would say Clement is the perfect height and weight for a versatile back, yet Lonie is too small and doesnt have enough "beef"? Huge myth, its more his attack on the ball that creates this as he plays like a short.

DOES have the body to compete with larger players if nessisary but is better suited to a small mans position IMO.

All I know is that Lonie got dropped from my Dream Team this week.

He is not seeing enough of the ball.

I am surprised that he is 190cm and as tall as Clement, but I take their word for it.

Reiwoldt or whatever could start on a wing. At 190cm Lonie should be able to match it with him.

Lonie needs to start kicking those long bombs that he knows he can do. Last week he was on the run and should have had a shot at goal. Lonie, if you are clear, have a shot. Please..!

Lonie is 188cm which is nearly 6'3" I think, hes about the same height as Molloy and Cloke

Lonie looks a little smaller Clement on T.V, which he probably isn't, but it just looks that way, which is why I said he looked a little small to be a defender. With Nova Kaine's post, I think he missed out something

He should of said, he needed a little body work, like Tarrant, so then young Lonie doesn't get thrown around by the bigger looking forwards. Although I still think that young Lonie would make a better winger, because of his speed. But his kick outs are pretty good, and with his speed he can run it out.

I think that Lonie does tend to play like a smaller player, but just probably hasn't adjusted to playing a game off of his size. Ryan only started to bulk up very recently, look at old photos of him and the difference is HUGE.

The HS said Lonie is in doubt for this week, with a clackered shoulder. Any info?

Ryan's run out of defence has been limited this year with opposition clubs playing a defensive forward on him to negate his run out defence.

his run out of defence is awesome - I tink Lonie sometimes has a problem deciding when to attack and when to defend playing HBF, but he'll get around that, and he can defend very well when needed. And clubs put a defensive HFF on ihm - what more of a compliment could you get!!

Ryan Lonie - Is he coming or going? In fairness to him he had the wrong match up last night but all evening he showed a lack of confidence. I'd love him to get back to his 2001 form but it's just not happening.

Your thoughts?...

When he was used as a link player he did some nice things. However playing as a tall backman is not for him, he has no idea.

We should use him as a midfielder/wingman for the rest of the season to see if he can play that role better. If not then the time to trade him may probably have come. He cannot continue to stay in the team on potential.
