We can all rest easy in the knowledge that the employer is subject to a $10,000 fine under the work(no)choices legislation.
Of course the Federal Government would need to prosecute. I do not hold my breath waiting for that to happen. |

The Boss when contacted by 3AW yesterday and confirmed he was sacked due to being a fire fighter and unable to do his duties. Face on National TV he does a U-Turn after finding out about the ramications.
The Young family was ushered away from their home to a motel room by ACA to stop a rival network getting accesss to them . Young Bailey I was advised loved having a double bed to himself.
Hopefully a good employer will give Pat a job. Great kid who works dam hard and loves the CFA, his community and family. |

well I hope Andrews when he does his investigation also listens to the tape from 3AW and then fines the employer $10K as it should be. _________________ Jacqui © Proud Pies 2003 and beyond |

Nothing will happen, does not matter anyway as the worker is still without a job. |

Sorry you are wrong here David. The Employer has done a complete U-Turn once he faced an outraged public via ACA. ACA just ran with the story presented to them. Alise Mooney from Ch 9 has been up in the fires and has watched these fire fighters first hand and she was distressed on hearing what had happened. The Employer knew he was a Volunteer and was advised Pat would sometimes have to leave especially coming up to a high fire danger season and agreed when he hired him. Once the Employer was faced with an idle machine costing him money his dilemma came about. I sympathise with the Employer, but he knew who he was hiring.
Governments must step in to help employers and volunteers to ease the load all around.
His U-turn about lack of productivity was a reaction to cover his arse. |
