Definately Your going home in the back of a divvy van....bay 13 folk aren't an offical supporters group therefore there are no chants made because we rock up early morning to get a good seat and have fun. Theres just the standard ones..may not be as good as the Barmy Army..who are an organisation with time to make chants, but its still good fun.

Noted some severe contradiction in your latest pro tea drinking propoganda.....you say you rock up early to have fun with.... no chants, the whole message in this topic has been everyones experience with the Victory guys is chanting is a whole lot of fun...its actually fun going to A league and being part of the northern end being surrounded by thousands of people having fun. Going apeshit within the rules and wanting to be passionate is a whole lot of fun its neither embarrassing or shameful.

No doubt the barmy army have changed the way Aussies look upon cricket and the way we support our team whilst playing cricket the intro of the boon army has proved this, maybe just maybe within time the great barmy army will make us achieve something we all thought impossible, the barmy army would wake up every cricket morning pretty excited because they know how to have fun within the rules..they dont start fights they dont go looking to smash skulls upon defeat...just a great bunch of passionate supporters having fun...someone tell me when was the last time a barmy army member was ever arrested...we have so much to learn from these guys just as we have so much to learn from our Victory supporting brothers and sisters.
I believe this topic has been a wake up call its given us a chance to have a good look at ourselves and think about the things we dont do and the things we should do, something pretty radical will have to happen for us to change.

I believe we take ourselves too seriously we gotta learn to relax a little and have fun.

BTW your going home in the back of a divvy van is more cringeworthy than ozzie ozzie ozzie oi oi oi!

The Barmy Army are simply amazing, and floored everyone else.

Their "keep your arm straight, keep your arm straight, keep your arm straight when you bowl" to Brett Lee was terrific, and their neverending "Barmy Army" chants kept on going, and going, and going despite their loss.

It'd be unbelieveable for any CS to do something like that.

I have a huge photograph of the barmy army guys which im going to get framed and proudly hung in my study along with a pic of thousands of Victory supporters holding scarves up in the air...both groups proudly celebrating ones love for sport..the way it should be Smile

Both pics will hang next to a framed article in the age proclaiming the arrival of the magpie army cheersquad in adelaide some years ago...you see once we were just as loud and passionate as these people...the cheersquad then was recieving accolades from all over OZ for its noise and passion.

What's happened since, Joffa? To be perfectly honest, I've felt that since the 2003 GF loss our crowds (not singling out the CS at all, they are still the best in the caper) have lacked the ferocity.

In short let me tell ya what happened

When the cheersquad was reborn so to speak i became chant leader and with a fantastic group of people we introduced new chants which really got the place rocking...in a very short time the cheersquad came from being half empty every week to a full house every week.....other people seeing how good it all looked wanted to get involved, the gold wig and jacket had just started to take off, the pies were winning...during all this excitement some pretty sad people slipped through the net so to speak and has made life in the cheersquad very difficult for many people...to some people cheersquad life is all about power and control whilst to the greater majority of squad people its all about fun, chants, passion, friendship, its amazing how a small few can absolutely f*ck it all up for everyone:)

It will be interesting to see how the control freaks fare up in 2007 it could be the last horrah..as of yet the hard core passionate ones as myself and others havn't been called up to once again get the joint rocking and making it the most talked about cheersquad for all the right reasons as was the case was some five years ago!!

That's fair enough, Joff.

2007 could be the lash hurrah? Surely not - it is the most famed, talked about CS in the land, and when on song is a sight to behold.

A rebirth of the rebirth, perhaps?

I've really found that from the 2nd level the CS is hardly noticed nowadays. It's a real shame. As Joffa said, hopefully our Victory brothers and sisters have opened our eyes and we will now start to get back to where we were and even better.

That pretty much typifies society really, small minorities getting their own way.

A few chants for the new black and white militia that would work in an AFL match environment could include:

Nathan Buckley's black and white army!!, Nathan Buckley's black and white army!!, Nathan Buckley's black and white army!!...repeat (same tune as ernie merrick's blue and white army)

oooh oh oh oh oh....ooooh oh oh oh oh, (scarves waving)

kick a goal, kick a goal, kick a goal.. kick a goal, kick a goal, kick a gooooaaal, kick a goal, kick a goal, kick a goaal, kick a goal, KICK A GOAL!!! to the tune of here we go, here we go here we go...etc

only one alan didak, only one alan didak only one alan didak..

Were so good it's unbelievable!!, Were so good it's unbelievable!!, Were so good it's unbelievable!!

When an opposition player kicks a behind (would be great for Tarrant's first game against us Smile ).... Your shit!! and you know you are, your shit!! and you know you are, your shit!!! and you know you are!! (maybe keep this one away from the non swearing environment of the CS)

when little shits like farmer give as gestures etc, then, WHO ARE YA!! WHO ARE YA!!

we love you magpies we do!! we love you magpies we do, we love you magpies we do!!! oooooohhhh magpies we love you..

coll-ing-wo-od!! nana nana nana na, nana nana nana na...repeat

I know these are blatent rip offs from Melbourne Victory supporters but It's a start and I'm sure we can come up with plenty more original ones Smile

Dont take this the wrong way but i think it would be beneficial to everyone that as a Cheer Squad you guys take the Victory style of support and not the chants. Although i support Collingwood and Melbourne religiously i would hate to go to Collingwood games and just hear chants ripped straight from the North and Southern stands of the Melbourne Victory.

I do realise that you did mention they were rip offs. Just both ends of Melbourne Victory are very proud of what they/we have achieved, and its bad enough to see other A League supporters copying us, having my own AFL team's fans copying would be bloody embarrassing.

And how were the boring ole aussie supporters yesterday at the cricket...how many times did we rip into that great chant...ozzie ozzie ozzie oi oi oi ?

Do you know what the sad thing is? Its not even an Aussie chant! Its a Welsh chant which Australians changed.

The original goes - OGY OGY OGY- OI OI OI!

When i hear people chanting it the Aussie way i cringe purely because it shows how pathetic Australian Cricket fans are.

Pathetic because we just all walk into ground as individual supporters not as a properly organised supporters group like the Barmy Army.

We have fun our way they have fun their way, doesn't make us pathetic for it.

Ah, the Barmy Army. They chanted so loud and so strong they lead their team to, what was it? 0-5!
Shows how much effect chanting really has on the result.

I'm sorry but the "Barmy Army, Barmy Army, Barmy Army" is no more witty-the only thing is unlike the Aussie chant that goes for 20 seconds. That one goes for 2 hours.
