Is $8.71 an hour for a deli/cafe worker who is 18?
How about $6.43 an hour for a 16 yr old?
What is minimum wage these days? _________________ §üsÅñ »-(¯`v´¯)-» £í©¢ã

And don't be fooled by the recent increase awarded by the so-called "Fair Pay Commission".
Employers were whingeing about it, as they always do ... but Howard and Costello couldn't hide their glee because they knew the Commission had done its bit to allay people's fears about the new IR laws just enough to get the skunks re-elected.
I guarantee that if the Liberals get another 3 years in office the minimum wage will be frozen ... if not reduced ... while prices continue to increase.

lol, get out of my head Alf.
I said something similar when a friend rang me and toldme that the 'Fair Pay Commission' had awarded $27. I said, of course they did. there's an election next year and there is no way that they wouldn't have awarded a 'reasonable' increase.
Considering there had been no increase for 18 months prior.
If the current Federal Govt get back in.....you watch, FPC will, as Alf said, freeze the minimum pay (it's been frozen for over 15 years in the USA at under $5 an hour in some places......most are under $6.00 an hour).
Big Business will also go all out on the No Choices legislation, they've been pretty quiet at the moment because they have been advised by the Federal govt not to do anything that may jeopardise them being re-elected and that once they are re-elected, more changes will be put in place for them. _________________ Jacqui © Proud Pies 2003 and beyond |
