In this case, is it something that should be treated, or instead accepted? Interesting ethical questions there....

Personally, I'm a little worried about all these 'mental disorders' they come up with these days, if these were all to be 'cured' would we not just be an army of clones? Laughing then again, where do we draw the line? Schizophrenia, for example, is something that few would dispute should be cured. Narcissism, on the other hand, while incredibly annoying, is part of a person's personality, and to remove such a trait is playing God.

Some will rightly point out that mental condition does not necessarily = disorder

ummmm David, the article is actually getting away from the 'mental' conditioning and saying it's a 'biological' condition. So why are you talking about 'mental conditions'?

If I was a transgendered person, I'd personally be offended by what you've written above in response to the topic.

At paragraph [272]: ‘In my view the evidence demonstrates (at least on the balance of probabilities) that the characteristics of transsexuals are as much “biological” as those of people thought of as inter-sex’.

I'm sorry, I misread 'medical condition' as 'mental condition', and I actually looked twice too Surprised
some might say I have a mental condition..... Rolling Eyes
still, I don't understand. After all, things like sexual orientation are all to do with the brain anyway aren't they? Reading stuff like this for example (in the above document):
Quote:
‘In other words (as I understand it) the brain of an individual may in some sense be male, for example, though the rest of the person’s body is female’.

Isn't that, therefore, dealing with mental issues?
