Princes Park to rock on
October 04, 2006 12:00am

AFTER weeks of drama over a venue, Melburnians will get their Big Day Out.

American metal act Tool, British rockers Muse, hometown heroes Jet, Las Vegas hitmakers the Killers, rock veterans the Violent Femmes, hot US band My Chemical Romance, controversial US rapper Peaches, New Zealand band Evermore and Perth chart-toppers Eskimo Joe will play the annual music festival on January 28.
Melbourne City Council last night approved Princes Park as a venue, but for next year only.

Promoter Viv Lees said the Victoria Racing Club's Flemington racecourse had been locked in from 2008 as a Melbourne venue for the festival, which attracts up to 45,000 fans each year.

Great lineup, tool are one of my all time favourite bands, saw em a few years back at the tennis centre and they were sensational. A band with 'real' edge! They also have the most weird and wonderful video clips with amazing graphics. A little dark and politically motivated but a great sound nonetheless . Tool rock!!!

I found an old Tool album and got it, enjoyed it, would enjoy going to that, I like most of those bands that are playing.

Yeah that's the one, I picked it up from Cash Converters with Alice Cooper and a few others, I just couldn't remember the name.

Tool are great, Muse are better, and Evermore are pretty good Very Happy that sounds like a good line-up.

Nothing on the first Big Day in Melbourne back in 93 Sonic Youth, Iggy Pop, Nick Cave, Cosmic Physchos, Helmet - that was a real big day out.
