I heard a rumour that we are not going to participate in the AFL competition next season, but we will start a new competition using the International Rules standards and compete against Killarney, Cork and Dublin in a new international series.

I heard a rumour that there will be a new team from Alice Springs join the competition, as well as teams in Mt Isa, Wollongong, Meekatharra, Cann River and Murray Bridge.

Another two teams are yet to be named, however nominations have been received by Woomera, Tarcutta, Coober Pedy, as well as Inglewood, Longreach and Normanton in Qld.

The towns of Queenstown and Bichno in Tasmania also applied to join the contest, but they were deamed to be to difficult to get to for other teams, in terms of logistics.

The new competition is going to be called the AIIRFL (Australian Irish International Rules Football League), and sponsors include James Hardy Industries, Exxon, Pan Am, and Quintex.

Should be good to see it get off the ground! Im really looking forward to it!!!

So long as we play at Victoria Park, I am down with that.

Spent the afternoon there kicking a ball with my 4yo son after todays game.
