GREYHOUND racing stewards have exhumed the remains of what could be six dogs found mutilated on a bush track.
A woman and her eight-year-old son found the remains on Tuesday while walking in bushland at Yendon, near Ballarat.
The woman reported the gruesome find to Moorabool Council, which identified the remains as greyhounds but buried them before Greyhound Racing Victoria stewards could inspect them.
Council chief executive officer Robert Dobrzynski said they appeared to be dogs and that their ears had been cut off, making it impossible to identify them through ear branding -- which is compulsory for all racing greyhounds

Nasty business, greyhound racing.
Of all the dogs that are bred to race, only a tiny percentage are even good enough to run in a race, let alone good enough to win a race.
What happens to the rest?
Who knows?
But I do know this. In Adelaide the main greyhound racing track is at Angle Park ... the neighbouring suburb, Mansfield Park, has a lot of Vietnamese restaurants.
In Melbourne, there is a prominent greyhound racing track at Sandown. What's the neighbouring suburb of Sandown? ... er ... Springvale.
You do the math. _________________ Line and Length ... Line and Length ... Line and Length |

Nasty business alright.
What i find funny is that live kills using rabbits is against the law. But without live kills of possums or rabbits, how do you teach a dog to chase. Every dog running has and probably have ongoing live kills. And if they dont they will get killed, because they wont chase.
Its a death death situation for all animals.
On a lighter note i see pluggers dog one the biggy at wenty last sat night.
He might be in for an extra dog bone. |
