Post subject: AFL war with 3AW etc. | |

A report on WA radio this morning states that the AFL have demanded a fourfold increase in the fee for broadcasting footy on radio in 2002.
And 3AW and MMM in victoria have threatened to pull out of football broadcasting as its not worth the price asked.
My problem is that the ABC will probably not be able to pay either, and where does that leave us fans that cannot get to the game each week.
No footy programs to listen to during the week, and then what?
Maybe the AFL(Are F#*#*# Lunatics),maybe they want soccer and rugby to take over, maybe they are just too greedy for their own good.
If Melb radio cant afford it then other states have no chance.
As Alf would say.
Football the peoples game?Pigs arse!

The AFL have bent over backwards for the medial for many years now. The is no way, however, that there will not be radio coverage. Demand and supply - someone will pay the price and the AFl will reduce it until someone does. Hopefully the AFL have leart the lesson from Basketball where they lost their coverage and the competion imploded.
