I am with you.
When people chose a religion, a football club, a country; any fanaticism that distinguishes them from each other, it gives them a reason to have prejudice and narrow-mindedness.
What John Lennon is trying to say is that most people sitting in the same room would pretty much get on with each other. It is the external worldly elements, which give them a reason for intolerance, bigotry and hate.
Most real religions talk about finding the karma from inside.
Those people who wear their religion on their sleeve are actually in total contravention of the ideals that their so-called Gods pitched in their books of faith.

Wrong again whoever you are. The bible clearly states Preach the gospel to all the world for a witness and then shall the end come. And again it says, preach the gospel to every living creature. _________________ Genesis 1:1 |

Skaman, I'm a mate of Bruce and Ian's (fanatical Pies supporters, both) and you'll be interested to know that they are planning to release a new CD and do some shows in October/november to celebrate their 25th anniversary! |

one of the main reasons people sing at the soccer is when one side scores and shuts up shop. consequently there's nothing that exciting to watch on the field, hence plenty of time for singing. It's never gonna happen in aussie rules, the game is too fast and exciting, and always punctuated by plenty of scoring and high marking. We tend to cheer - they tend to sing. I can imagine it would be a great experience to have a capacity crowd at the mcg singing along, but I don't think the whole religious thing would go down too well. Very good point Joffa, a lot of people are really antisocial these days... I've had the same experience, makes ya feel sort of sad when it happens. I don't know if it was different in the past but there's truth in that people are getting more selfish, more scared and all that. _________________ All watched over by machines of loving grace |

Personally, having gone through religious education for 13 years of schooling and come out believing none of it, I am bemused by religion as a whole - similar to "guns don't kill people, the shooters do" argument of the NRA, religious organisations to me have a lot to answer for, but the people who do get a lot out of it for the good of their friends and family I commend and wish I could be like that, but alas I am a sceptical cynical bastard. But any song that can get people fired up positively is a beauty, whether its religious or not. I think half the problem with this world is political correctness and that has extended to "ooh we best not sing this because someone might be offended".
