What sets us behind the pack ???
Why can't we win the flag ???
In my opinion, all through my life time, Collingwood have had a shortage of quality midfielders - even now - we are still one quality midfielder abroad from that prestigious premiership.
Furthermore, we need a quality centre half-back and an established ruckman.

i think our backline's fine, as is the forwardline. but yes we need one more mid - kerr would do it - but let's see what richards can do in the ruck in coming weeks. _________________ McRae for Governor-General! |

Looks like you've answered your own question Coin Toss, and I agree with you mostly...midfielders, gun ruckman.
Hmmmm...Aker and Gardiner might help. _________________ The window is open my friend! |

1990.
Shaw, McGuane, Francis and Russell with Millane and Wright.
Big Monkey started up forward with Charlie doing a lot of rucking.
CHB. Ned and the best set of knuckles to have ever punched a ball.
2006
O'Bree, Johnson, Swan and Licca, with Rhyce a permanent wing and rotation on the other. Add to that list Holland, Burns, Didak and Lockyer rotating through the middle.
Josh needs Guy, no doubt.
CHB: General Jimmy James. Heater, Maxy and Presti cover the others with support from Lonie and Holland/Johnston playing a rebound role off HB.
Looks OK to me!

yes die4, i guess the problems in the latter part of this year have been that holland and licuria have been a bit NQR. If they can get back to their best (step in the right direction last week) the midfield works together very nicely. still would love a top quality true mid to come to the club or rise through the ranks.
still i don't think our current midfield is up to the class of:
Shaw, McGuane, Francis and Russell with Millane and Wright.
all who in their day were in the elite of the competition. _________________ McRae for Governor-General! |

Gardiner hasn't been a gun ruckmen for 3 years CmyC. Aside from everything else his knees and feet are knackered. Big Cox would certainly stiffen up our midfield though. |

getting back onto the topic....
I agree our forward line & backline are great when all in form. Our midfield is OK, but could do with a touch of class & speed.
but... I really think we need a bang & crash style ruckman. While Josh is a champ, I worry his boney body won't stand up for the challenge as good as he has this year. Sometimes it would be nice to have a gardener style big ruckman to bash into the right opposition. Even our backups are currently weeds. |

Thats why we trade tazz for 2 first round picks. two quality mids to complement Thomas, Pendlebury and H.Shaw _________________ 'You da man' |

Another speedy, silky midfielder, and a strong bodied, experienced ruckman. One more strong-boned CHB wouldn't go astray, either. |
