Hawks have delisted Brett O'Farrell, nice ruckman, they already have Rhen and Thompson and they're trying to cut their expenses - eg. Lord is also gone!

We don't want Lord no question - but do we want O'Farrell? The questions are - can he ruck better than Fraser now, and can he ruck better than McKee now?

Also - will he be value when Fraser starts to dominate the ruck?

Nice thought to have a good ruckman alternating with Josh up forwards, especially if Rocca doesn't pick up the consistency he almost got this year.

Just a thought...

I wonder if he's still eating through a straw.

Oh, well ... at least we did SOMETHING.

Wouldn't that be a little confusing ... with two BOOFA's in the team.

I think he would be worth a punt. Certainly his form has been pretty poor, but injury has really held him back. Three years ago when he was traded to Hawthorn from Sydney (for the no 4 pick in the draft) he was looking terrific, only being let go due to (at that time) the top form of Stafford. I certainly remember one game in late 1998 when he tore an opposition forward line apart.
He’s 197cm and a good mark; the only question mark is his ability to maintain his fitness after 2000 out injured.
The club would need to give him a thorough physical check, but if he passed that then I think it’s worth the chance.

we r going to take atleast 1 or 2 recycled players so o'farrel might not be a punt he is strong but doesnt really have a good leap on him which not what we want , he took 13 marks against fremantle when the freo beat the hawks at colonial , so might be worth a punt but must get fit and drop some weight

I would be very surprised if he wasn't a better ruck prospect than McKee. The only problem is that he is very injuryt plagued. It is not much use having a player on the list who can't get on the field. I don't know enough about his injuuries to realy say, but the doc's would have to make a call I think.
