Pentridge wall tumbles
14jul06

THE breakthrough many inmates would have prayed for has come far too late.

Painstaking demolition works on Pentridge Prison's imposing bluestone walls began yesterday to make way for a road.
Pentridge Village Development Company managing director Peter Chiavoroli said he had to be mindful of history as workers took down the wall that has stood since the late 19th century.

I live very close to pentridge its sad to see this wall come down its actually quite amazing when you think of the hard work over 100 years ago that would of been required in getting it built.

Pentridge did have a football team iirc...only played home games, a joke constantly cracked by their one time celebrity coach, Lou Richards!
