Anyone else required or has completed any length of jury service i have been called up and really dont know what to expect

I got called up to go last year joff. The court date was going to be on an RDO where I already had something planned with my then girlfriend. So on the reply I wrote some little sob story about 'needing to get away' blah blah blah, 'we were having problems' blah blah blah and they were good enough to cancel for me. Assuming that you don't wanna go, just make up a good little story and it should get you out of it. They don't really care about the excuse (within reason), they just need to be notified.
Of course, if you do wanna go then please disregard my whole post

Shameful.
Just how do you expect our justice system to work if you look for a way out?
The system is based on citizens putting their hands up and doing their civil duty.
How many times have we complained about court decisions, yet we seem all to eager to put ourselves above this "awful" task.
Shame, shame, shame.

I've been called up 3 times but have missed out every time.

| Do you wish to do it Joffa? I have and have written each time explaining why I cannot do it. You cannot just say you don't wish too, you have to give a reason to why you would not be objective etc. If you wish to then you go through the process of jury selection. Then it comes back to if they like you or not..lol |

Actually dale i would like to do it i feel in someway honored to have been chosen, i was just enquiring about the process and what to expect i actually hope to be a part of a jury

I got asked but I was living in London at the time so had a good excuse.Imagine if Barb from the Carlton Cheer Squad was up Joff ,you would stand up a yell GUILTY straight away before the chargers were even said. 
Seriously friends have do it and said it was as boring as watching a Carlton and Essendon game.

No worries, I was honest I could not be objective as I mistrust the police due to my upbringing in a rough neibhourhood so to speak. In saying that I have officers as friends these days...lol |
