Collingwood has been hit with a $10,000 fine by the AFL for breaches of the league's total player payment rules.
The Magpies were found by AFL investigations manager Ken Wood to have failed to lodge arrangements with players within the timeframes required by the league's total player payment rules in 2005.
The Magpies could have been hit with a more severe penalty had the club not advised the AFL of all required information and not cooperated fully with the league, football operations manager Adrian Anderson said.
Collingwood said the issue involved skipper Nathan Buckley's endorsement with Volvo being replaced by a similar arrangement with Lexus.
The Pies believed that it had communicated the relevant information to the AFL, however due to an oversight, it was discovered that the league did not receive the appropriate documentation as required by the rules.
Collingwood said in a statement that it is confident that the oversight will not occur again.

What next? The AFL to ban Collingwood from the comp.? Dimmitrew to ban Collingwood fans because we keep on raising the IQ levels at every game far beyond his own and the dumb bastard feels threatened? Unbelievable the way they treat the only club that regularly keeps bringing in the money to the bloody AFL.. They would be bloody ratshit broke without our thousands of fans and the enormous income from our attendence and membership.. |

It is about time we stood up to those at the AFL who think they are some sort of quasi High Court imposing half baked fines for little oversights like the recent mistake of CFC to notify them of player payments. Is this part of the spirit of co operation mindful for the need of unity in the face of mounting competition from Soccer and Rugby? Hardly.
The AFL are wrong. I demand a full apology and a refund if we have paid this fine. CFC should not back down on this issue.
The AFL are the enemy of Victorian Clubs and we must be very wary dealing with these vicious swines. Let us send them a fine for public nuisance. _________________ I love this club and I hold anyone in contempt who does not think it is worth fighting for. |
