Darcy's struggle is over
Terry Brown
September 16, 2006 12:00am
DARCY Field, the Geelong baby whose struggle to live broke Victoria's heart, has finished his fight.
The seven-month-old boy died quietly at home early on Thursday, in his parents' arms.
"It was peaceful. He just wanted to be held," father Adrian said yesterday.
"He was telling us it was time."
Darcy was born with spinal muscular atrophy -- a genetic disease where spinal nerve cells die and cause unstoppable muscle wastage -- but was not diagnosed until about 11 weeks.
Before that, his lack of fussing and inability to cry much made him seem the perfect child to the Fields, an opinion that didn't ever change.

Having two little boys of my own, reading this tragic story has left me very distressed, just terribly, terribly sad. My heart goes out to the parents and to brave young Darcy wherever he may be now. |

Very sad news...Can't help thinking about his poor family. I'm the same as Rand Corp and have two young children and really feel for Darcy's family.
Rest in peace little man _________________ ITS NOT MY FAULT BLOODY JONATHON BROWN COMES FROM WARRNAMBOOL !! |
