Thanks Culprit and Joel, I almost always call back if I have a missed call from a number I don't know... one thing that is immediately suspicious though is that Canberra numbers generally go (02) 6........ so a number starting with 8 or 9 is pretty weird.

So there really are people who are that lonely and desperate that they ring back a missed call, especially from a number they don't know!
I bet if you look really hard, you'll find the letter 'L' tattooed on their forehead.

If they don't leave a message, I don't bother worrying about numbers never been called by any of those.

Dale it has nothing to do with loneliness or anything, at least with me its simply a case of, some of my friends sometimes try to call me from their home phones, of whom I only have the mobile numbers of. Maybe try not to be so judgemental, hey. However, I agree that anyone who would fall for the $40 thing must be pretty greedy and stupid.

No, as I said, I was curious. With the first call, I have friends that live in the 95x area of Melbourne and thought it might be then calling from a landline.
With the NSW numbers, I called them from work to see who it was, as I have friends in Sydney and no, I don't have their landline numbers, just there mobile numbers.
So, I didn't know if it's someone I knew or not.
It has nothing to do with whether i'm lonely or desperate (which I'm not thank you!)

I get 3 calls a week from the overseas Indian syndicate and enjoy hanging up in their ear midsentence... who could waste a single breath on these people?

well there you have it.
ive had a few missed calls from these numbers.
i remeber thinking 9540... thats springvale isnt it? And the other one that starts with 02... i just thought it was someone from Sydney and didnt bother with it lol.
Besides, I dont ring anyone back (especially if i dont know the number) if they've pranked me... unless ofcourse its someone important or something.
Missed calls from private numbers suck too.
