I'm saying real musicians, even those session musos that work on pop albums say its complete crap, its not about being popular or who likes it... it is a simple fact that rock n roll, pop music rap etc is complete rubbish musically, its like politicians, they have to lie to be elected, pop music has to be simple, shallow and repetitive to appeal to the masses

Look at the subject matter of classical or Jazz for instance, they are questions of the soul or existence... what does every single sad arse pop band sing about? some ridiculous love infatuation that only a teen could take seriously... its fluff

I think Brian Wilson is a genius. Drug induced..yes but musically quite brilliant. Call his music what you like but millions love it. |

Few and far between Tess, have to sell a dozen top 10 syrupy pieces of fluff before the recording studio will let them do anything like that and it never... never rates in the charts, so even the musicians themselves are admitting 99% of their music is complete crap

Did he write a symphony at the age of 4? because genius is a big word to be bandied about when giants have walked the earth

Merely an example of the level we are talking about here, I'm pretty sure Brian Wilson will not be remembered alongside Mozart or Miles Davis
They have run tests at universities that show students test higher if classical music is played in the background, something to do with the structure, complexity and affinity with nature (ie mandlebrot set, golden mean etc) please dont call pop music great art or its sad set of drugged out losers genius

I'd dispute those test results without having access to the relevent controls.
I'd also need to clarify the definition of a loser.
Regardless, I and lots of others think Brian Wilson is quite special. Yes, even a genius. You disagree, that's fine with me.

Ace, you cant tell me The Who had no talent and only catered to the masses. Baba O`Reilly is one of the greatest pieces of music ever. If Freddy Mercury was not a musical genius of incredibly rare talent I`ll go he.

If they were any good you would never have heard of them, there is genius but you wont find it in the top 40
