I agree with you on all your points. What I am saying is that the Coalition led by Bush, wishes to control the earths wealth, gold, oil etc. To do this, they in turn have to dominate and place people in power to do their ruling so to speak. Saddam & Pinochet are just two that did great until they lost the plot and wanted things their way. It's a vicious circle.

Racism is a joke, no one likes someone different. In most cases it’s a religious or culture thing and either party does not understand or wish to understand the other.

I reckon they are small fish in the great scheme of things, they do the bidding of the big fish hoping to get some of their crumbs, lets face it they are hardly billionaires, at best the puppets of billionares

well I guess it's fair to say that the American government is always trying to do what's in the best interests of their country. So they tried to help Saddam against the Iranians because they saw Iran at that time as a bigger threat. They should have just done what Israel did and sold weapons to both of them, hoping they'd blow each other up Razz

America doesn't do what's best for their country. They do what's best for big corporations and what will make the most money for their 'friends' who put them in power and of course, the president is also extremely wealthy and has his finger in so many pies that it comes back to him as well.

The American Government, and in particular, the president are morally corrupt.

The very nature of representative democracy basically demands that politians constantly look for ways to buy votes. For example Howard tailors his budget to suit the voting demographics and party members in marginal electorates. Conversely students cop it because a) most students are ALP voters anyway and Howard knows he won't get their vote and b) because they are a small demographic.

You have to stop yourself frlom becoming so cynical that you genuinely believe people get into politics for the money or the power or whatever. If there's one thing being at Parliament house has taught me is that every person in the building is an complete idealist. From Howard to Garret to Abbot to Brown, these people all want the best for our nation. Where they differ is the means, not the goals.

There is no way Howard sits there and cackles whilst planning how to screw workers out of their pay. Nor does Bush sit there and think up ways of killing another 150,000 civillians.

Good point Sherriffe, I was thinking the same thing. People like Moore, for example, say that all Bush cares about is the money, and power associated with being president. While it would take a rather naive person to say that this is not at least partially the case, it is equally silly to suggest that Bush is an evil mastermind who cares about no-one but himself. I think he does genuinely try to do the best for the American people, though maybe not the rest of the world.

And though I may be biased because I like him, I have no doubts about Howard, I believe he does always try to do the *right* thing, as much as any politician does at least (after all wasn't he actually called "honest John" at one point, before it was used in a sarcastic way?)

Many people call themselves Christians, just like many people call them selves muslims, but........................you can put feathers on a horse but that dont make it a duck. By their fruits you will know them. Nixons fruit was bad.

All American Presidents have to pick a denomination. I mean, how serious of a christian was Clinton? The fact that Nixon was a 'quaker' doesn't mean anything, and more than likely he wasn't christian. Why are we even arguing about this though anyway Razz
aceofstace, Jesus wasn't a Christian, he was an observant Jew.
