I was watching an overseas news report about the Beaconsfield Mine rescue and nearly laughed my head off when the reporter said " In breaking news the miners have finally been set free from the beaconsfield mine which is in a secluded part of Tamzania, Australia". It makes you wonder do these people even know where we are. _________________ Genesis 1:1 |

Another report I saw said that the incident occurred in "Beaconsfield, Australia".
I'm sure there would be millions of Australians who wouldn't have known where Beaconsfield was before this happened. _________________ Line and Length ... Line and Length ... Line and Length |

WTF?
Is the cultural cringe still about? We can only justify our importance by what others see and think about us?

It happens. I still remember when the bushfires hit Canberra a few years ago, the Herald Sun report showed a map of Canberra, mis-spelling several suburbs almost comically (and by the way the map was useless, because if the fires had been where they said they were, my house would have been burnt down ) and we probably get names wrong occasionally, like during the tsunami report, some of those Sri Lankan towns would have been easy to mis-pronounce. _________________ All watched over by machines of loving grace |
