Should we go for McKernen?

what you think?

Could be handy to have.....His 27 with a lot of football in him.

Will do well with Josh Fraser.

What players can we give North? for this trade...

Don't give the scum anything...give them Stone and Baynes at last minute like St.Kilda gave Carlton Cranage for Hamill.

Only 6 months to go till next year

McKernan is not a dud, he is a player that has a great deal of ability and can play forward & Ruck... So if you think he is a dud then I suggest you know nothing about football!

Bucks,

Where have you been for the last 2-3 years. He is useless and CANNOT play as a ruckman, can play up forward only on given days.

Who can we trade ?

Go Pie Pride....join in and everyones a winner.

See my comments re Everitt on another post. Exactly the same argument applies re McKernan. It's no good getting big name players when they are past their best. You pay for their big name, but miss out on the big performance. So, you get ripped off. It's better to get someone with, perhaps, slightly less ability, who is not as well known. Much better value in terms of salary cap and trades.

Hmmm not sure. Is he a dud?
What is a dud?
Is a person who once seemed to have unlimited ability but has failed to produce anywhere near his potential for at least 4 years a dud? Is someone who's last year highlight has been a series of "adequate" performances leading to "suggestions" that he has turned the corner a dud?

McKernan looked like the player of his generation in 1996. He hasn't looked like a player deserving of a regular game since. If it is all mental as some would say then can we turn that around?

I worry about his fragile mental state let alone whether 1996 dramatically overrated his actual football ability. He doesn't seem to take many marks and his ruckwork has been such that Burton is clearly the No.1 ruckman at North.

Unless he comes cheap I would leave him alone. If we can do a deal with players we don't require, then I'd take a punt on him. That is unless we get a ruckman from elsewhere.

Corey McKernan is not a dud!!!! Its amazing people refer to him as a dud when he has managed to play in a finals team year in and yar out. McKernan is a duel Premiership player. Do we have any of those at Collingwood ??

McKernan is simply a confidence player. People have forgotten that he actually tied for the Brownlow but missed out due to Suspension.

I believe a change of clubs will rejuvinate McKernan and help turn his career around. I would have no hesitation in selecting McKernan as both on and off the field he would be a good influence for the Collingwood Football Club.

MM may get as much out of Corey as anyone but I wonder how much there is left to get.
JLC - I wouldn't compare MM with D(r)ummy. The fact that nobody this side of the Nullabor thought Holland and Clement were good gets can be put down more to Drum's clueless judgement than anything else. They languished in the WAFL and if you read a prior post (I think Ed's) and see the Sandover winner & place getters you will get an impression of the standard of that comp.

Corey is a hack.
Remember back to mid-season this year? He was this close from being sent back to the VFL for life from the Roos.
Don't pick him up.
Target Everitt and Porter.

if the club is to go forward and give the premiership a shake we need an experienced ruckman until josh and guy richards are both physically able to compete in the AFL. I believe the club has to sign one of these four. Everitt, Porter, Stafford or McKernan. The experts at the club will know who best suits the club, team ect so i'll trust their choice. Personaly i would chose Everitt due to his ability to play ruck and forward well.

Dont forget Anthony Rocca got dropped to the VFL this year. Shannon Grant has been dropped to the VFL this year as well. Corey is a player low on confidence and needs a fresh start.

im with you on this one JLC..

change of club, and under a different coach such as mick, corey would be a handy pick up!

if he wanted to come, i'd take him! definately wouldnt knock him back.

look what the change of clubs has done for Sav. hes playing his best footy of his career, and i can guarantee u if he was still at collingwood, he would be "same old inconsistent sav"
