Yeah sure Nicole Kidman's done heaps of charity work, but she can afford to, its good publicity, and she's rolling in money anyway. And it makes her feel better about herself. Which I guess is really the only reason any of us do it, except for maybe a sense of duty in some cases. But I think it would have been fairer to give the award to someone who doesn't nessecarily live in a mansion, may not have millions of dollars, but still devotes their life to helping others.

Yep, perhaps someone who gives more than many of us can imagine, someone from the CFA or SES for example.

I'm sure Trisha did'nt ask for this award so why bag her for getting it.

You are told in advance that you have been nominated and can refuse the nomination at that stage, as many people do.

Btw, personally I don't necessarily agree with Trisha being the best choice for the award, but the personal attacks on her are over the top.

I don't think she was a good choice either but not sure if any of those comments are required.

Now see, they are still missing the point, she hasn't just done 1 years charity work....she's been doing it for 5 years and that's MY point!

Not quite true, she's done one year of charity work, the other years it was her job. Like I said, her 'charity' work for the 5 years had zero bearing on this, but was a nice way for the committee to be able to tick a box on her application.
