Okay, so Nicole Kidman gets a gong (AC).......

And now...

(AM)
Mr Richard John COLLESS
49A Parriwi Road, Mosman NSW 2088
For service to Australian Rules football through initiatives to develop the code nationally and in leadership roles with the Sydney Swans and West Coast Eagles football clubs.

For me, these awards should go to people in the community who give of their own time (generally unpaid as a volunteer). People like CFA members, SES Members, etc, they deserve a gong before the two people above do in my opinion.

Not as much as a joke as the "Young Australian Of The Year" PP.

This whore did 6 months of "work" and surpasses people who have been contributing to the community for years.

Little Johnny must be having trouble getting the lipstick of his cock.

i wouldn't call her a whore Eunos. She's actually been doing voluntary work with the Reach Foundation started by Jim Stynes for the past 5 years. Circumstances made her a widow after 8 days, but she's always done the voluntary work.

She is deserving of the award.

Trisha Broadbridge, 24
Victoria
Young Australian of the Year 2006 - Recipient

Trisha Broadbridge is one of the Reach Foundation's "original crew" (young leaders), and since 2000 has been facilitating and inspiring groups of teenagers in activity based educational programs helping them improve overall levels of self-esteem.
She specialises in leading workshops and camps that give teenagers a place where they can go a little crazy, connect with others and be heard.
After losing her husband, Troy Broadbridge, in the 2004 Asian Tsunami, Trisha joined forces with the Reach Foundation to establish the Reach Broadbridge Fund which she now manages on a part-time basis. She has, with the help of the Melbourne Football club, established The Broadbridge Education Centre on Thailand's Phi Phi Island. This centre assists young people affected by the tsunami, allowing them to continue to learn after such devastation. Trisha believes that "no matter what happens, you have to keep going".

She has also taken Reach Foundation to Adelaide, Troy Broadbridge wanted to start up a Reach centre there and they have now done it.

So, it's not 6 months and she's no a whore.

I find that really offensive Tess. God help if your loved one died 8 days after you married them, and in an horrific way.

This woman deserves the gong she got, she's been helping others for the past 5 years with the Reach Foundation.

Nicole Kidman earns millions of dollars and she gets the highest award recognisable just for earning millions of dollars for herself!

PP, I had the "privilege" of seeing her interviewed on the sunrise program.
Her own words were about the work herself and MFC did in Indonesia. Nothing about any other "work" Though she has done a lot of personal "work" for MFC player, current and ex.
So she even believes its only the last six months that counts.

As Tess said, professional victim. And now rewarded for it!

what a load of crap. A person who does enormous good for other people is vilified by you and Tess and yet not one word on Collis getting a gong and Nicole Kidman getting it for making millions of dollars for herself?

People who are selfless and do things for others deserve it before the likes of Kidman and Colliss. I haven't seen Kidman do anything for any community other than herself.

WTF? I think it's a bit much to call her a whore based on what is probably rumour and innuendo. That is way over the top.

Eunos, i started the topic.....the topic was about Kidman and Collis getting the gong, you brought in Trisha Broadbridge who IS deserving of getting the award.

So, i AM staying on topic, perhaps you could?

What is so much more horrific about her life than mine?

I could set myself up as my own charity, I have a small profile I could use ... and have been asked to use. But I will not live off the misery of others in the guise of helping them.

I'm sure she means well and she is also doing some very worthwhile deeds, but it doesn't change the facts.

I know of a woman like myself who's boyfriend was killed because he was going out with her. Imagine how she feels. Did she create a charity ... NO! She started again, set up a website *Calpernia Adams* to help finance her lifestyle and to help out others as they travel the hard road.

Whats worse, having your partner die in a natural disaster.... or having your partner murdered because he is going out with you?

Tess, it's not a contest to see who has the most tragic life......... she was recognised for her work with the Reach Foundation and the work she has done for the past 5 years, not because of a tragic event which happened to her.

Can you lot not understand that?

Now back to the topic, why did Nicole Kidman get the HIGHEST AUSTRALIA DAY HONOUR What has she done for anyone but herself?

Yes, like i said, Nicole Kidman got the HIGHEST Honour, one of 7 awarded this year.

PP, if the tsunami hadn't killed her hubby, would you think she'd even be on the media radar? She wouldn't have even got past first base in the selection process. The work she'd done for the last five years had zero bearing on her award, but it does sit nicely when the gong committee needs to write something down to justify their decision.

The awards are mostly bullshit anyway. The odd lollipop lady from the local primary school cops one, just to show how 'egalitarian' we are. Cops, firemen and 'our brave fighting lads' cop another pile. The rest are simply dished out to someone whose done the govt of the day a few favours, or donated whatever the going rate is to the 'party'. What did 'Sir' Joh flog knighthoods for, $25K?

LD, your probably quite correct in that nobody would have known any of the good work that Trisha did had her husband not been killed tragically. Doesn't take away from the fact that she has been helping others tirelessly for the past 5 years and has now been recognised.

Now, tell me what Nicole Kidman has done to deserve her accolade? Oh yes, she made multi millions of dollars for herself and DOESN'T EVEN LIVE HERE!
