The ALICE chat robot can follow many things, like our discussion about slow. But I did not get that.

Thanks Skaman, a friend said she saw her down the street the other day and that she'd aged 10 years overnight. I hope she gets better too.

I am sure once your Mum is mobile again, she will be back to her old self real quick. Hope the infection clears up quick.

Thanks Kaylene, I hope so too, but before, she was youngish 71 (lots of wrinkles, but definately not frail) now she's a very frail old looking 71. For her sake, i'd like her to get back to her pre November self.

Jacqui I am very sorry to hear that your mum is unwell - I hope that she returns to good health quickly!

I would like to say I am surprised at your experience - but that would be an out and out fib!

It is good that you have referred it to the Adverse Reaction Unit - however they can only provide "advice" to the health professional involved - they are more concerned with collecting data that may impact on the on-going registration and use of drugs in this country

Can I suggest that if you wish to have your complaint seriously investigated by an authority with some authority then you contact either

The Medical Practioners Board of Victoria or the Health Services Commissioner

You will need to put your case forward in writing - but they must investigate and respond and have the authority to actually "do" something!

Thanks Susan, I'm waiting until Mum has recovered a lot more as that's what my brother and I want to do, but the decision to do so rests with her. She's of the .....don't make a fuss generation.....i'm of the you screwed up you need to be reported generation.

Her Surgeon is writing a letter to her GP as well so this will also back up any complaints made to the Medical Board. But, for the moment, there's not much we can do until she's well enough.

I also found out that this same GP caused problems for another elderly patient. They will also be taking their complaint to the Medical Board.

There is also a Retirement Village a few doors down and all the elderly are patients at this surgery. I also worry for them.

Susan, you seriously would not recognise her if she was standing in front of you.

Update:

Mum's been back in hospital again. She's still extremely yellow and had a liver biopsy done on Friday. The results prove that the damage is from the antibiotics that the GP had her on. Also there is 50% damage to the bilary ducts. I'm not sure if this part of the liver regenerates.

She's home now and is now on Naltrexone (which is giver to Heroin addicts in detox as it blocks the receptors in the brain) for the intense itching and this seems to be helping enormously. She's only one 1/4 tablet a day.

She's still suffering the intense nausea and tiredness and has lost even more weight.

Time now to put all my documentation into one document and send to the Health Services Commission as they requested.

thanks skaman, the specialist has said it will be a long slow road for her.

She's already saying for me to take a friend to the Captains and Legends Members Cocktail party because she doesn't think she'll be up to then......don't even know when that will be.

You are very welcome Hal - have you been to RMH Emergency Dept often - your diagnosis and dialogue seems very familiar Wink
