Post subject: Nick's Collingwood Page: ChangesReply with quote

G'day Magpies,

The following Changes have been made to the running of Nick's Collingwood Page(NCP), that's the website and not Nick's Bulletin Board(NBB)

We have setup a "Site Development Team" to take care of the day to day running of NCP and its content, at present there are four of us:
Joel
Johnson#26
DaVe86
Steve

As many of you know Joel has been around here for ages and has worked on the website with me from the moment we reloaded it, Johnson#26, Luke, was one of the 1st to put up his hand to write and contribute to the site and has been a stalwart contributor, he like Joel have worked on the site for (over?)2 years now, DaVe86 has Contributed to the site and shown an interest in its development for a bit over a year now, each has shown me a desire to do what is best for NCP and Nick's as a whole so I have no hesitation in giving these blokes more control over the website and its Content.
I will step back from the front line of the day to day Active Content of the site and concentrate on other aspects of the site.

We will be endevouring to change the way we do a few things on the site, the usage of this forum (Nick's - The Webpage) being one of them, we will be encouraging Nick's Members to post content for NCP in this forum as well as the current methods of PM and Emailing them, many of Nick's Members would feel much more comfortable posting articles and content on the BB rather than email etc.
we will be posting more about this and other changes soon.

Nick's Collingwood Page has been from the moment it was reload designed to be a community site, designed to support the Nick's Community, it is owned and run by the fans for the fans and can only succeed if the community gets behind it and supports it, We unlike many other Collingwood sites are not out to be the biggest or the best, we don't try and lock away Collingwood talent on the net with exclusive rights over anyone, we are not interested in the inter-website politics, all we are trying to do and all we have been doing is supporting this community and building a website that this community and Collingwood Supporters deserve.

The formation of the Site Development Team represents a key moment in the growth and History of Nick's Collingwood Page, just as the Nick's Bulleting Board went from one person running it to the Community running it, the website is now well on its way to being totally run by the Community with very few aspects of it being any one persons responsibility.

Due to personal reasons I will be taking some time off from the workload of Nick's, I have full faith in the guys running the website and Craig will be able to take on the Scoreboard Chat again for next year (thanks m8 ), these being my two major concerns for Nick's for next year taken care of, I should be able to take care of what I have to on the home front, the rest of it will have to sort itself out for the time being.

I have currently 6 or 7 projects half completed with various members of Nick's who have been nice enough to contribute content to the site and I would like to re-assure those people that we will continue to work on them over the next couple of months until they are completed and would like to urge other Nick's Members to get involved with their website.
As I touched on earlier Nick's is a Community website, we that are currently in control of it are not some elitist group or a clique you have to be a part of, we are here to support Collingwood supporters and Nick's Community, we do it off our own back and seek no glory from it. We would encourage as many of Nick's Community to contribute to the website as want to contribute, We claim no exclusivity over Nick's members talents, we don't mind if you write for other Collingwood websites, (Johnson#26 writes for CFC.com.au among others and I have my fingers in a few Collingwood sites) We are going to be around many many years to come and what ever is contributed will go towards the overall end result of a Collingwood archive by the fans for the fans, so chip in as every bit counts.

Thanks for your time.
Steve.

ps. I would like to personally thank Craig, Joel, Luke and Dave for putting their hand up and taking the load, I realy appreciate it and you guys are great examples of the type of people this Community on Nick's continues to produce, Collingwood Fans Supporting Collingwood Fans, thanks mates.

By the way, if people do want to contribute, it doesn't have to be a regular thing. If you just want to write one article everyone now and again, or just as a once off then we appreciate that to. Down the track there might be various other ways to get involved.

I would like to say thanks to Steve for keeping the joint running after it closed down briefly (just like the BB did a while back). Steve put his hand up to keep Nick's Collingwood Page running when no one else would.

Anyway, I don't need to say much more because Steve has summed it all up pretty well.

Further changes for this season.

as one or two of you know My missus has been having a rough trot and I have been spending a great deal of time away from my work here on Nick's to be with her, as a result of this the usual off-season tasks haven't been completed.
the player profiles, results, and player stat pages for this year haven't been set up and I don't have the time at present to do the required work in setting up the 100+ pages.
therefore we need somewhere to store this years data as the season progresses and I would like to suggest we make more use of the Bulletin Board forums for this, I will have a word with the moderators and see if we can have the description of the Draft and trade forum to include player profiles and seek members to put their profiles in that forum.
I think we should also keep our result records in the match forum for the time being.
the players statistics I will still continue to harvest and store locally untill such time as we are able to use them.
all of the above content can be easily linked form the website to the relevant pages on the forum.
we also have problems with the staffing of the Scoreboard Chat seeing as Craig has mangeged to get banned again, I haven't heard from him so I am unsure whether he is willing to continue his role in the Scoreboard chat, tho with the message he left on the scoreboard would seem to indicate that he isn't, this will leave a hole in our services as I can not pick up the slack here in this as the Scoreboard Chat is one area I can't be involved in running it on match days, I need to start enjoying my football again and as the chat robs me of any enjoyment I have to leave it be for now, the Scoreboard Chat will survive, it allways has, it is allways bigger than one indervidual and some one will eventually step up.

This year will probarbly see the website slow down abit as I take the time need to look after Shaz and learn the stuff I need to learn to take us to the next level as a community website, I am trying to get into some classes which will help me implement the wholesale changes required for us to take that next step.

I believe it is important for us to continue to gather our content for future use and in using the resources of the forums we might engage more members in content gathering for the site, it is after all in the intersets of the members of Nick's to ahve a viable content rich website.

more as I think of it...

Steve.

Good work, Steve. With the Player Profiles, I'll try and update them ASAP - problem is, I have write some up for the CFC website. But my match reports (previews/reviews) will still be running. I am more than happy to update the player pages with stats and the like if you wish.

Good luck with your wife. Smile
