I interpret it as a reference to the upcoming hanging.

Every Christian lionhearted man will show you that if this happened in Massachusetts that boy would be stayin' alive . Unfortunately there'll be lots of lonely days and lonely nights for his family. I can't see nobody doing anything about it. It's the biggest tragedy since the New York mining disaster of 1941 . There should be a holiday declared in his honour. Maybe it could be held on the first of May ... or perhaps more appropriately, tomorrow, tomorrow .

I have mixed feelings about the hanging myself but lets face it, how many people would have died from overdoses or become drug addicts from the heroin being sold? nobody's crying for them.

Many David and many more will - the state sanctioned murder of one individual drug courier won't change that - the big boys still sit back enjoying the high life, protected by the very politicians who make the rules and prey on the foolish and desperate who make the runs, take the risks and pay with their lives
You don't teach a humane society not to kill by killing - but hell yeah it will teach em not to do it - only have to look at the USA crime rate to see how well that works

You need to replace the word 'mistake' with choice.
Van had the opportunity to redeem himself from previous bad boy days and he didn't. He decided to import drugs simply for monetary greed and that is his choice, you live by it, you die by it and he got punished, no skin off my dick.
Drugs in society have many destructive consequences; just ask the elderly who have been bashed for the few dollars in their bag.
Drug dealers/pushers PRAY on the young and vulnerable and deprive their choice, from evolving into a decent human being.
