If we're talking AFL, then the list stands at:

Since 1990

Brisbane: 3
North Melbourne/Kangaroos: 2
Essendon: 2
West Coast: 2
Adelaide: 2
Collingwood: 1
Hawthorn: 1
Carlton: 1
Port Adelaide: 1

One of 9 clubs to have won one.

Interesting list that, carlton and essendon have been proven to have been cheating during this time, the brions are AFL sanctioned cheats, the weagles and crows were pseudo state sides.

THATS the point Ive been trying to make Cooldewd, after 6 years under MM, our list is worse now than when he took over,The lack of depth is down to one bloke MM, he has had total control, and that is a worry,HOW long are ppl willing to give him, Sorry ppl but weve been going backwards, and that ain't success

This line "Malthouse will leave our list in better shape than Mathews or Shaw" is a myth of epic proportions.

The bumbling Shaw left us with:

A 26 year old Buckley
A 25 year old Paul Williams
A 25 year old Sav Rocca
A 21 year old Anthony Rocca
A 25 year old Scott Burns
A 22 year old Simon Prestigiacomo
A 19 year old Chris Tarrant
A 20 year old Tarkyn Lockyer
A 22 year old Mal Michael
A 18 year old Heath Scotland
A 21 year old Paul Licuria
A 32 year old Gavin Brown
A 31 year old Gavin Crosisca

That is a core of a fine side with only Brown and Crosisca at the end of the line....the rest were young with many years in front of them and all STILL playing.

Try doing a similar list now....it would be embarrasing.

Players who, in my opinion, form the "core" of the Magpies at the moment.
(Ages as at today)

A 32 year old Buckley
A 30 year old Burns
A 30 year old Wakelin
A 28 yo Clement
A 27yo Presti
A 27yo Rocca
A 27yo Licuria
A 24yo Tarrant
A 24yo Ben Johnson
A 23yo Fraser
A 22yo Richards
A 22yo Didak

A number of players could form part of this core: Rhyce Shaw (23), Rowe (19), Cole (21), Cs (22, 20, 1Cool, Maxwell (21), Walker (21), Lonie (22).

This does not include untried but 'promising' players (Rusling, Yakka, Egan).

If we can trade in one superstar midfielder (Dal Santo PLEASE) and the younger players develop as hoped we are not far off.

Who knows what kind of players the 24 and under group of Magpies could become? In 5 years time, you might look at my list and judge the present "core" as being the core of a premiership list. You cannot judge the state of our young list until you see what they become...thats why its not a science!

KYPREO, I reckon you missed out on one of Collingwood's brightest prospects once he gets rid of his injuries, Davidson. This kid has talent to burn and is exciting but has been incredibly unlucky with injuries.

Yeah who knows what kind of player Davidson could be. The 1 quarter I saw him he impressed. Hope he has exhausted all his bad injury luck! Laughing

There are also players who have great potential value and could be part of the "core" but I left them out for having played only a few games, not having many years in them or being inconsistent. Davis, Morrison and Caracella are handy players and would be in the best 25 of most AFL lists.

Richard Cole - his continuing on from where he left of last year

I don't think we have yet seen last years form from Coley as yet. Still hasn't reached his top form yet this season, although seems to be running into a hot patch.

Agree with you here J26. He has been slowly building up his stats over the last 5 weeks and I think he is not too far off from hitting last seasons form. Look forward to seeing him hit someone with a hard tackle again!
