Purple. I hate that colour. Nowadays I can't even look at a block of chocolate without thinking of that psychotic lunatic. Which is a real shame, because I love chocolate. True, you have to do 1000 abdominal crunches and run a marathon to work it off, but in my line of work, sometimes you just need a bit of comfort food to cope with the crazy shit, you know?

But, back to The Joker.

Typically, he chose this of all weeks to stage (yet) another one of his regular breakouts from the asylum. What do they do up there with all that money my foundation grants them? Spend it on video games? Oh...

As I've done so many times before, I examined his cell at Arkham for clues. It didn't take me long to find something. Scrawled on the wall, in the blood of the now dead orderly, was yet another example of this weekly letters and numbers gibberish, which is seemingly haunting me every where I go.

I'll leave these here for you to have a play around with, while I head off into town and try to catch this monster before the body count gets into triple figures...

For years I�ve tried to bring this bastard down. Yet for the better part of a decade, barring the occasional pyrrhic victory, he has always eluded my grasp. No matter how hard I�ve tried, he has always found a way to stay one step ahead. Which, for a morbidly obese middle-aged man standing 4ft 10in, is no mean feat.

He also considers himself a collector extraordinaire of birds. Be it swans, eagles, crows or hawks, Cobblepot loves anything with wings and feathers. Even magpies, although he has been known to use those for target practice when he is in a foul mood. Which tends to be every second day. Those poor little maggies�

Maybe that�s my way in: animal cruelty violations. Lord knows, Capone was done for tax evasion, so why not apply the same kind of innovative thinking here? It would surely be a line of inquiry that bears more fruit than the current approach of lonely stakeouts down on the docks in the middle of winter.

Speaking of which, I analysed the shipping manifest for Cobblepot�s latest delivery down at Station Pier. Nothing unusual to the untrained eye, but Detective Vision found more of these recurring letters and numbers strings that I have been coming across, scribbled inside the margins and around the edges. And down the bottom of the page, it also found written a simple message:

�Better luck next time, freak!�

I hate that little pr-ck.

It's not often I let someone get the jump on me. Unfortunately, this was one of those nights.

He calls himself The Electrocutioner. He's a loudmouth street tough who doesn't normally warrant much of a mention, but he chose this week of all weeks to re-surface. I swear these crazies look at the fixture and co-ordinate amongst themselves as to who causes trouble on what week. Either that, or I'm just going around the bend. Which is entirely possible...

I made the mistake of thinking this would go down like the last time I encountered him: quickly. My arrogance was my undoing, because he got four good hits in before I even knew what was happening. I fought back, of course (world's greatest martial artist, remember?), but it was catch-up fighting. He wore me down and managed to escape. Injured, but free, and now he's on the lamb.

It won't be that difficult to find him, though. His gloves emit a powerful electromagnetic pulse signature that I can track with the Batcomputer. Before I do however, I'm turning over yet another set of gibberish strings, which I found on his cell phone after I palmed it from his belt during his escape. Interestingly, he was playing Space Invaders before our fight...
