This is not meant to be a criticism of Anthony, but I just wish to know what could be done about his kicking for goal from within 35m out...

He rarely has trouble kicking from a distance, ie. 50m+, but when he is just 35 m out or less, he sort of stabs at the ball. Maybe he could ALWAYS kick from 50 out? I know it sounds stupid, but it sort of makes sense.

I dont believe Rocca needs to practice 35 plus meter shots, I honestly think he needs to learn how to handle pressure and learn to deliver when expectations require him to do so. Generally within 35 meters should be a gimme for Rocca but somehow they are not. I certainly witnessed his miss today and although I cant blame him for the teams loss or one particular incident I would say nonetheless it was crucial as they soon later kicked a retaliatory goal which shot down our momentum.
Its been a steep learning curve Collingwood I just wanna make sure its been worth it.

I don't really believe he struggles with the pressure.. Correct me if I'm wrong, but he has kicked some important goals in a few games this year hasn't he? The Sydney game last year is one that comes to mind.

I cannot believe that we are looking for isolated incidents to explain this lose.
Our overall 4 qtr game was not of a high enough standard to deserve a victory. This will change. As I've said before. strap yourself in, this is gunna be a hell of a ride!

i really am not a fan of either Rocca ...for the simple fact that too many important shots are/were missed by them. I knew today that when Anthony had a very important chance to kick for that goal that it would have to be him to miss it! This is perhaps a bit harsh but i just get very tired of it!

I do think Rocca needs to stand up as one of our senior players at times and set a good example for the younger guys but it was the whole team who let us down today, not just Pebbles. He should have kicked that goal from 35m but there were plenty of other mistakes throughout the match that were simple skill errors we should never have made. How many of our kicks actually hit guys on the chest???

I thought Rocca had a good stint in the ruck and did try hard. I don't think any of our guys go out there to play badly or lose a game but they're the ones who put their bodies on the line week in, week out - not us - so I admire them, even on a day where luck didn't go our way.

We certainly can't say life as a Collingwood supporter is boring - although I must admit that I'm really not that keen on roller-coaster rides!!!

GO PIES!

Yeah i hear what you are saying about Anthony Roccs but we really lost the game in the first quarter when we fell behind. I think people need to take a step back and realise that he isnt the only player which misses easy goals or make mistakes. I say give the guy a break and lets focus onm being a team and doing the 1 percenters

Before you start blaming Pebbles (Yet Again) for another loss, why don't you start with our midfield, who struggled to get it out of the middle all day and apparently forgot that they each had an opponent they should have been manning up on....and then our defense, who were 10 metres behind they're opponents all friggin day! Also, I am very sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but even if Ant had kicked it, we still would've ended up as the losing side! And as for Poster Boy Tarrant...Are we back to the old Sav days? Of relying soley on one player to kick our goals? I think not...Tarrant is never going to be a Dunstall, Lloyd type, 100 goal a season full forward, so give him a break, the kid is only 20 and is not the only player in our side that should be under scruitiny!

Wouldnt go blaming Rocca for the loss. U live and die together as a team. As for the 35m shots, as son as he has a kick less than 50 out, the screen fills up with the words 'too close' from everyone. He's trying, and had a go from what i gather. We can ask for no more!

The problem with yesterday's game is that we are very good at getting it into the fwd 50 and scoring (goal or behind) but at the moment our pressure in keeping inside the fwd line is vry lacking. How many Brissy goals were scored coming out of our fwd area, like bang straight up the middle, mark, kick, goal. Our fwds and midfield are getting a little lazy.

I don't think anyone read what I wrote! It was not a criticism of Anthony but merely a suggestion about what he COULD do about his shots from around 35m out or less. I never blamed him for the loss, so I don't know why you people are saying 'dont blame him for the loss' etc etc..

So can we please get back to the point? What do you guys think about the suggestion?

I noticed that in the first quarter (I think), Anthony had marked from about 30 out, but walked back to 50 and I thought then that it was a good move knowing how poorly he kicks from close in. He should have done it in that last quarter too. He obviously has a mental block kicking from within 50 and I agree with ytry4 that he should always walk back and kick from 50.

Its all in the kicking technique. All he needs to do is keep the same technique when kicking for goal. Can someone please tell the coaching staff!!!!
