Post subject: Pies lodge appeal against BJ's suspensionReply with quote

I just read this on the AFL's website:

Sydney, Collingwood and Essendon today all notified the AFL Appeals Board Secretary they respectively wished to appeal both the Tribunal's verdict and penalty handed down in cases involving their players last night.

Sydney's Jason Ball was suspended for one match after being found guilty of making contact with an umpire during last Sunday's match against Carlton at the SCG.

Collingwood's Ben Johnson was suspended for two matches after being found guilty of charging Geelong's Mitchell White during last Sunday's match at Colonial Stadium.

Essendon's Sean Wellman was suspended for two matches after being found guilty of engaging in rough play against the Western Bulldogs' Rohan Smith during last Friday night's match at Colonial Stadium.

All three clubs lodged appeal notices, a $5000 appeal fee and a $10,000 bond with the Appeals Board secretary this afternoon.

The appeals will be heard at 5.30pm tomorrow, Thursday July 12, in the usual tribunal location in Melbourne.

On the Johnson thing I am not opposed to him being found guilty, that I can deal with, what I cannot accept is that Stewart Maxfield got off for the same thing on the same weekend!!, the two incidents are almost identical, maybe this is another example of the AFL propping up the non-footy states, Sydney and Brisbane make me sick, they claim they "only" have $400,000 a year extra in their salary cap, "only" $400,000, talk about an injustice, this could be the difference between keeping or losing a Josh Fraser or a Chris Tarrant.

there's no consistency. molly put down the paddle-pop lion (gaspar), and he also crunched scarlett in the geelong game. he wasn't reported, yet roids was and has been suspended. if they report one incident, they must report ALL such incidents.

Just heard on the news that Jonno will serve his 2 weeks.

I thought it would be a waste of time in todays game.
