I just personally wanted to congratulate your fantastic cheersquad effort this season. I have several reasons why I would prefer to be in the Collingwood cheer squad than the Hawthorn cheer squad (supporters club)and this is coming from a one eyed Hawks fan.

1. The fact that you never stop cheering as long as their team is on the field. They support them to the end whether they are winning or losing which a key aspect in a great cheersquad.

2. That there is such a large amount of people in your cheersquad. You've gotten over your problems and managed to create a huge cheersquad.

3. The amount of noise you manage to make. Seriously, the amount of voice from your supporters against the Crows was so great that you actually drowned them out at stages.

4. The original chants. You have worked hard to work yourselves into a different mould than other cheersquads who just resort to the Hawthorn (clap clap clap) etc. It is great that you try and create more exciting and interesting chants to support your team.

I dont know how the Collingwood team would manage without a great cheersquad like yours. Congratulations and keep up the good work.

Great post, Hawkfan5.

The cheer squad is doing a fantastic job this year. I think they also have a policy to sing the club song at the 25min mark of the last quarter, no matter if we're winning or losing. This shows just how passionate they are about the greatest sporting club in Australia (if not, the world)!

I also do agree that the Collingwood Cheer Squad is absolutely BRILLIANT as I witnessed their true passion & support for the club on Saturday night against the Crows!!! They CHANT from the Start of a game right through the End, Win or Loose, Rain Hail or Shine....

Cheers Rob,
Im an interstate fan, and I finally managed to get down to a game earlier this year.

There are some fantastic people in the cheersquad who welcomed me with open arms. (eg Joffa,Mags,Alf,SS11,Magpie Gal 19,Miss Magpie and Rocca's babe.)

The passion in the cheer squad is breath-taking. And even though we lost on the day, it made me felt good to be a part of that passion for a day.

So i know exactly what you mean Rob.

Sometimes it's necessary to hit rock bottom before things can go up. It happened to the Collingwood F.C. in 1998-2000 and now things are really looking up on field.

I think the same thing happened in the Cheer Squad. I joined the Cheer Squad in 1998 and it really bothered me that other cheer squads seemed to have a lot more passion than ours. Now we are gradually making an impact and I think Rob's comments are going to a make a lot of us very, very proud.
