NOTORIOUS prison escapee Peter Gibb was back behind bars last night.

Gibb, 50, of West Rosebud, was arrested yesterday near Hastings after a break-in at a Mornington Peninsula car dealership. He was charged with two counts of arson, four of motor vehicle theft and one each of burglary and breaching a suspended jail sentence.
He will face Melbourne Magistrates' Court tomorrow.

In 1993, Gibb broke out of the Melbourne Remand Centre with fellow prisoner Archie Butterly, helped by Gibb's prison officer lover Heather Parker.

Parker and Gibb were captured in Gippsland. Butterly was shot dead
