Gilbee has said that he wants to be traded from the bulldogs (preferably to richmond). considering we were interested in him last year do u think we'll have another shot?

he has very good skills and considerably fast. he seemed to have a very good second half of the season. i would be happy to trade mcgough for him in a straight swap or even ob in a straight swap. any thoughts?

I thought I heard on the news Eade saying that Gilbee wasn't going anywhere?

Guys, I cant post the source of this information but please take it as gospel. Gilbee strongly regrets that he did not cross over to the pies last year. He was stifiled at the dogs last year and felt it was basically a wasted year. It does not suprise me that wallace is chasing him. Even tho the dogs want him, I think he only signed a one year contract last year which would leave him open to Richmond through the PSD.Doggies should look at this and take any offer we put forward seriously as they may lose him to the tigers for nothing.

If Gilbee comes to us then we have two boys from Coldstream FC.
Guy Richards is the other one. The edge of the world....

It's not like Eade can just say, nah...to bad, you're not leaving.

Actually, he can. Player lists get lodged with the AFL on the 29th October whilst contracts run until the 30th. Players can only nominate for the National Draft to be held on the 20th November if they are not on the club list on the 29th October. If Gilbee is contracted until the 30th, Eade can say he's a required player, list him and he has to take his chances in the Pre Season Draft if he doesn't sign a new contract (as an uncontracted player he becomes eligible to nominate for the PSD). Eade is under no obligation to trade him away either.

Like Cam's thread on MCG, in which many posters agree we should play hard ball with him, Eade can play hard ball with Gilbee.

jokster, if that is correct, then you may have a case.

Cannibal, he could still enter the PSD if the Dogs didn't want him to leave, and refuse to trade him, ala Port/Stevens fiasco. Still can't make him stay though, provided he doesn't have any time on his contract left.

Is he needed here? Some may argue that he has pace, skill and obvious talent but - if he can't get a regular spot at the Dogs, will he get one here?

he starred for the dogs in the second half of the season. the reason he might not be able to find a regular spot at the bulldogs is prolly cause they have too many of his kind of players and not enough of in and under midfielders

MM tried hard for Murphy last year then Gilbee and the Doggies did not want to trade with the Pies.

Maybe change of faces will help that in 2004 trades.

Pies will be very active - but if they can get Judd may shut up shop early and go home.

I just hope we can land some new players. Its a cause for optimism. Even Gillbee and T.Longmuir. If they come up, we may as well take them.

Lindsay didn't see eye to eye with Rohde and as a result struggled with game time etc. He definatly wanted out if Rohde was going to be coach next year but with a new coach will sit down and look at a few things. A lot depends on how his chat with Eade goes. Collindwood would be a contender for his services for a number of reasons. As mentioned earlier he grew up in coldstream and is friends with Guy Richards. He is impressed with the Lexus centre facilities and he was also a collingwood supporter which probably wouldn't have a huge influence but could be that final little thing. Also take into account Eade's anger with Wallace over the poaching and he might prefer to deal with collingwood. Lindsay would fit our needs in that he is a quick skilled outside midfilder however the only query is his accountability which could be a problem as Mick hates unaccountable players. Examples being McGough and Scotland.
