Melbourne is need a full back. Nicholson is crap + they know it. Presti is surplus to our needs. Presti + 23 should do it.

I doubt they'd take just that. It would probably do, but we may have to throw something else in there.

I'm sure Maxy could take his place.

Presti is quality, and I reckon they would take him. When he gets a full pre-season under his belt, and overcomes his injury probs from this year, Presti would be very valuable for them. Having said that, I'm not sure we want to trade Prest, it would leave our backline a bit bare...particularly with Wakelin close to retirement.

Remember that the Dreamons don't have a lot of money to throw at players, so they could settle for 'cheap' deals.

I read the Demon website and they are thinking of McGough and O'Bree for Johnstone. I can't believe their thinking of it!

I doubt it would come through. We'd have to hope:

a) They hadn't seen O'Bree much this year

b) Johnstone wanted to leave.

On the Demonland website, there are two threads on Johnstone becommming a Pie.

If Johnstone pulls his finger out, and really plays some hard football, then I wouldn't mind him at the Pies.

And the rumour probably started here. There couldn't possibly be a single player coming out of contract which someone on this BB doesn't think would make a good addition to our list. The Demonland people probably looked here first!

would love to have Cameron Bruce in our side.
He is a fantastic finisher and a great mark.

Happy to give Presti and pick 7.

As for O'Bree and McGough for Travis Johnstone - where do we sign!!!

it is a big call.
but cam bruce is a pretty good player.
if we can somehow tie in a deal to get johnstone as well then i would say its worth it.

pick 7 might be too valuable though for just bruce.

Dale,
Usually I agree with a lot of what you say, however in this instance I totally disagree with you and whoever else believes Nick Maxwell can play a Key Position in the AFL especially Full Back. The guy is only 190 cm tall and is a meager 85 Kg. That makes him lighter than Licuria. How would he go playing against Fraser Gehrig 101 Kg or Matthew Richarson 105 Kg. He wouldn’t stand a chance! The perfect size for a Full Back is around 192 – 196 and about 95 – 100kg. Mal Michael is 99 Kg, Leppitsch is 97 Kg.

Presti is 193 cm tall and 95 Kg.

If we were to lose Presti I don’t know who could replace him. Perhaps Walker who has the height and strength 195cm and 98 Kg, but lack the speed.

I agree with you, stoid; Maxwell is going to be a topline halfback flanker but not a KPP. It's far too obvious that even Presti and Wakes are far too small for the really tall FF's, so Maxwell has no chance. Tex will step up (and don't kid yourself, he is quick) and I'm looking for Crow and Hall to see how they come along next year as potential tall KPP's in defence as well. Travis Cloke may also fit in as a possibility there further down the track.

There's been a lot of debate on the merits of Presti and Wakes , so I'm not going over old ground again, but in terms of trade value, Presti has plenty, Wakes has none (he's 30). Also, Presti is a one-dimensional FB, whereas Wakes is mobile and can play a number of defensive positions. So, if we need to trade a backman, trade Presti.
