In the late 70's and early 80's as a kid my mate and I would wait at the tunnel entrance after having a kick of the footy and regularly get into the rooms after the players had showered. I remember once after a loss my mate said to Ronny Wearmouth "great game Ronny" and Ron replied "f/n bullshit" with a beer in one hand and a sausage roll in the other. Kinda took my mate back for a bit. It was a correct statement though - he was ordinary that day. It's a pity supporters and especially kids can't get into the rooms like that these days. Understandable but a shame nonetheless. |

I couldn't make it into the Social Club last night, so am unable to provide a report on whether there were tables provided or not. From outside the room I couldn't see any.
Can anyone provide any feedback? _________________ Jacqui © Proud Pies 2003 and beyond |

Because it IS the Social Club.
Lexus is good, but it's still a fair walk from the Station and then onto the MCG from there. _________________ Jacqui © Proud Pies 2003 and beyond |

Yes Jacqui there were tables and chairs - we SAT and had a bite to eat had a quick beer then wandered off to our seats - so don't know if Ed was there or not |

Thanks b4e, good to see Eddie and David kept their word on that score, not that I doubted that they wouldn't.
I think with Friday night being the last game until next year, we should come back to Lexus for a HEARTY farewell to 2004 whether we win, lose or draw.......soooooo, can someone save me a seat _________________ Jacqui © Proud Pies 2003 and beyond |

Good to see this thread from many years ago. A lot has changed in the MCG. We have nice facilities in the Hassett Room these days and despite those who don't pay for a seat sitting in the window taking away seats from those who wish to consume food and beverages it's pretty good. People are sharing tables and making new friends. Then we have a walk over to the medalist bar which is a good drinking spot. The only bummer is the prices set by whoever has the catering now. Paying $198 extra on a Captains Club Membership to be ripped off every home game is starting to leave a sour taste in my groups mouth. At the moment it's running at 70% to drop the social club and meet elsewhere before each game thus saving money. As I said the facilities are pretty good and you we are paying for the privileged. It just seems the Caterers have a bigger privileged and I am surprised the ACCC has no say. As for Docklands and the Victory Room; I won't be back there so I am paying for two games I will never attend. One could say people are never happy. True, but as soon as a $10 bottle of wine hit $57 enough's enough. |

I don't know. But oddly enough I found an old photo of it on Sunday. Ah, the memories..... _________________ #TEAMBUCKS
