Post subject: Trade Bait in Season '04Reply with quote

Since dropping Rupe last year was way out of left field (for me anyway), I was wondering if anyone had heard any whispers about who might be offered as trade bait this year - if they don't get their arses in gear. I heard about Leon and Shawry, does anyone have any other news, or opinions about who should look to continue their career elsewhere?
My picks are:
Kinnear - haven't seen hide nor hair of him, and last time I did he did bugger all;
Williams - ditto
McKee - unless MM can work him into another position, maybe in defence? He had a good game today against the Hawks.

Opinions? Questions? Recriminiations?

williams and kinnear wont be worth anything as trade bait because no other team would be stupid enough to take them... unless they get their act together and get some form...

we all know that williams was capable as he had a brilliant start at collingwood but then got ko'ed a few times and hasnt been the same since.

kinnear on the other hand... i dont have any idea why we resigned him

yeah maybe kinnear should just be delisted. Williams might do better somewhere else. Maybe Hawthorn. They'd take anyone. They took back Croad. Case closed!

Watch the 2003 season highlights DVD..... Williams is all over it... lol. Taking good marks, kicking goals... Leon too for that matter... then when it gets to the finals they dissapear...

Looking back Williams was rather impressive last year (more so in the early half of the year). Dunno what happened?

If it was up to me i would get rid of these players:

1. Ben Kinnear
2. Andrew Williams
3. Rhyce Shaw

Kinnear and Williams have had chances and not delivered and Shaw is just not good enough for senior football.

Have a look at my pics from todays Williamstown game and you'll see what I think will happen to Willo next year.

IMO there are about 5 untouchables at the pies - everyone else has there price!

1) Bucks - you don't give away your soul
2) Lica - See Bucks
3) Burns - See Lica
4) Rocca - hard to find forwards that can turn matches!
5) Tazz - Is the shining light

and i will chuck Clement in the untouchables as well!

Other than that i would trade anyone on our list if the right trade came along!

No team is going to be stupid enough to want Williams or Kinnear. hmmmm maybe Mildura......

For us to trade effictively we have to give up quality to get the rewards, look at how the Saints traded! they got rid of Hall for draft picks and now they have the best list in the comp (except Brissy) They traded smart and didnt keep players on reputations!

Unless we had a chance of getting someone like Judd why bother trading? We have nothing anyone would want. If you cant rip a team off why sell yourself short by trading someone decent for something of lesser value.

Saints didn't trade hard. Barry Hall wanted out of st kilda, spider wanted out of st kilda, they are in the position where they are now is a reward for being the worst team in the competition for so long.

Here is who i would use to negotiate a trade: with other clubs

1. Woewodin
2. Holland
3. Tristen Walker
4. Leon Davis
5. Williams & Kinnear if we can salvage anything for them.
6. Perhaps Presti or Lonie if the deal was right.

I would target the Bulldogs especially young players like Robert Murphy.

I'm not sure about Robert Murphy. I'm don't know why, I know he is a good player, but I just don't see anything startling in him. Hacing said that, I may have to eat my words in the future.

Indeed they are out of contract. Although we wouldnt go after Smith as we dont really need him. Hodge on the other hand would be excellent.
